their walk home was a serene one, with the sun's final rays of day peer into their world before letting the moon's light to take over the night. the two walked in silence, hands interwoven, a gentle swing in them.
"what are you thinking about, hm jaem?" jeno asked, noticing his boyfriend's wondering gaze as they walked.
jaemin side eyed jeno then answered honestly, "you. lee jeno."
"me?"
jaemin nodded confidently, unconsciously rubbing small circles on the latter's hand with his thumb while their hands were still intertwined. a sigh left his lips before he continued, "like how you treat me like some precious gem, even though i'm very much far from that. or like how you are so careful with me when you don't need to be..."
jeno felt jaemin's grip suddenly tighten, as if the latter was afraid that he'd let go. he didn't even get to stay on the subject for long before he felt a raindrop land on the tip of his nose.
"oh?" jaemin lightly flinched, feeling a drop of something cold hit his skin. he looked up only to realize a soft drizzle of rain had bestowed upon them.
jeno noticed too, holding out his free hand to let the droplets fall onto the palm of his hand. a little smile settled itself on the elder's lips, seeing as this was what he liked to call 'sunny rain'.
wisps of gray adorned to sky, most likely to soon to grow larger in size and darker in color. but for now, he wanted to enjoy the light tranquil sprinkle the world had offered them with that evening.
the more they walked, the heavier and frequent the droplets became, raining down on the two in a steady yet chaotic rhythm. jeno had already donned his jacket and draped it over jaemin's head much to the other's resistance.
"you have a literal t-shirt on! you need this more than i do." jaemin whined, trying to take jeno's jacket off of himself but was only stopped by jeno's firm hold.
"i have a strong immune system, don't worry." jeno assured, trying to keep jaemin from taking off the jacket.
with a reluctant sigh, jaemin obliged to jeno's orders and kept the jacket on while noticing how the rain began to increase. an idea popped up in the younger's mind and he turned to quickly tap jeno's shoulder before yanking his hand away and taking off on his own yelling, "catch me if you can nono!"
since jeno was taken by surprise so it took his a bit to comprehend what jaemin was doing.
"jaEMIN, COME BACK HERE."
a fit of laughter filled up the mostly empty streets of this part of town, the two males seemingly stuck in their own little world while the rain started to get heavier.
