THE WRONG MAN & RESURFACED FEELINGS
。。。
everything came crashing on choi jihyung once his trial was set in action. of course, there was the wait for him to go on trial and to say his son was devastated was an understatement.
choi bomin had no idea what was going on exactly, except the fact that his father was being convicted of murders he'd never even commit. for whatever reason they think his father is the culprit, he was determined to find out otherwise.
questions still linger in the boy's mind though, and it frustrates him that most of these questions had no answer to them. leaving him in a state of absolute helplessness.
why were they pining this in his father?
was there something he wasn't telling him?
he had no idea, which only made him even more distressed and confused than ever. so, when he sat in the public gallery, just staring at the back of his father's head, he zoned out to the attorneys and witnesses voices.
for the whole two weeks, bomin sat there in painful silence as he watched his father bow his head in shame. an excruciatingly slow two weeks, might he add. it almost was like he gave up on fighting for his freedom, which made him want to run up there and carry his father out of this suffocating box of a room.
then to add on, the attorney had asked for some extra time to try to uncover more evidence, and the judge had given them seventy-two hours to do so. in that extra time, bomin's anxiety got even worse than when the trial first started.
he couldn't sleep at night, and kept on waking up from horrifying nightmares that all consisted of his father dying in one way or another.
everyone who attended the trial had seen the boy, and hell, they felt so bad for him. with bags weighing heavy beneath his puffed up eyes and stature slumped as if something were tugging down on his shoulders.
bomin watched till the very end, up until the juror read off the guilty verdict that nailed the case shut. the world around him seemed to go in slow motion as he was stuck there unable to move as the opposing side celebrated their 'win'.
a few days after was his father's sentencing and bomin didn't know if he could take it anymore. when the judge walked back in, his heart thundered against his chest while his breathing hastened. he could already feel the tears pricking at the edge of his eyes and he couldn't stand to listen.
his eyes widened in utter horror and despair once he read the judge's lips; "he'll be sentenced to death by lethal injection."
