The gentle breeze drifted through the trees and through my hair. It was a calm afternoon for once, walkers weren't gathered in the woods like usual, it was odd, but nice. I felt warmness on my hand and looked down. Louis had intertwined his hand in mine and smiled his usual dimply smile.

"Why don't we walk to the town, it isn't that far away." Louis informed me and I nodded.

It wasn't that often I got to be alone with him, and when we were, there wasn't much time. It was nice being able to walk with my boyfriend and not worry about every little thing, even for just a moment.

The leaves crunched under my feet as we jaunted over to the nearby town. I had only been there a few times before, so whatever he had planned would surely be a pleasant surprise.

"Okay close your eyes." He winked at me before I playfully rolled my eyes  and closed them.

I realized he knew me all too well when he cover up my eyes with his hands. My boyfriend led me down the concrete street and eventually onto the sidewalk.

At least, I think that's what it was.

We walked down the street before I heard him push open a door and a bell jingled above us. Louis shuffled us inside and then sat me down on a cushiony chair.

"Okay open your eyes." Louis gently let go of my face and I fluttered my eyes open.

A gentle glow from the sun outside brought light into the ice cream shop. Just like the ones I used to go to as a kid, and that my parents owned.

My parents went down with our ice cream shop, but I never resented the places, instead I cherished the memories I had there.

"Now I couldn't bring ice cream, with it being the apocalypse and all, but," he drawled on and pulled out a mysterious container from his bag "I did bring the next best thing." He handed the container to me.

I opened it up and saw a still warm piece of pie. My favorite type in fact!

"Aw Louis, I love you so much! This must've taken forever for you to gather!" I planted a kiss on his lips and he smiled. He pulled out two forks and we each took a bite.

I moaned in pleasure.

"This pie is so fucking good." We said in unison then burst out laughing.

"I can't thank you enough. Is there anyway to make it up to you?" I laughed while wiping a few pie crumbs from my face.

Louis stood up and started turning red. "Actually y/n, there is."

He went on his knees in front of my and grasped my hands tenderly.

"Y/n, you've saved me more times than I can count. Not just from walkers, but even from myself. You pull me up, and I love you so much," he reached into his pocket, revealing a simple silver band "I want you and I to symbolize that even in the darkest of times, we can still be happy. Y/n L/n will you marry me?"

I had tears pooling in my eyes. I could barely believe what was happening before my eyes. The love of my life just proposed!!

"Yes, YES, of course!" I hugged him so tightly he almost got knocked over.

When I released him, he was smiling so brightly. I couldn't blame him, I was too.

Louis slipped the ring onto my finger and it hung loosely.

"Louis this is almost a bracelet on me." I laughed in between tears.

He kissed my hand before moving up to my lips.

"We will find another one, we have our whole lives ahead of us." He whispered happily.
