She Died

She died
That is all
a rose that was battered and beaten by wind
finally gave in to the Earth
and went back to dust again

She died
That is that
she was splintered into a mosaic of black
eyes closed to uproar above
nothing will bring her back

She died
So it goes
a girl who had longed to kiss burning stars
said her goodbyes in an unhearing room
closed her eyes, all alone, in the dark

She died
In the end
a peaceful transition to nothing sustained
brown eyes grew tired as thunder began
and died to the sound of the rain
