Be Gentle

Be gentle with me
if you can
if you're able
for my soul is uneven
and needs balancing out.

You can measure me,
if you like,
into teaspoons and cups
you may break down my recipe,
adjust as you will,
to the brand of the sugar,
to the warmth of the memory,
to the soul that you see.

There is no need to take me
under your wing
even though I know you would offer
(You're kind that way).

No, I am well
Truly!
I am!
Just be gentle as I roll myself
mold myself
into the person that I'm meant to be
I'm not quite there yet
I'm still pink cheeks and youth
and fondness for honeysuckle
I'm not quite there yet.

Getting there.
Slowly.
