Carol Ann clung onto Lindsey and all he wanted was to race after Stevie and tell her how all three of them would somehow make it work "I'm scared don't leave me!" Carol Ann sniffled as Lindsey tried to pull back from the embrace.
Lindsey inhaled deeply and still held her "We have to work more things out than this, are you even sure about this?" He asked, pulling back and rubbing her arms, this wasn't something he wanted or even planned. In a way he wished she wasn't pregnant at all and Stevie was or no one was pregnant because the timing was terrible.
"I know I am Linds, I'm sorry!" She stammered and he looked into her eyes, he genuinely felt sorry for her but was naturally suspicious, worried she was trying to trap him.
"I need time to think about all this Carol!" He said biting his bottom lip, wishing it really wasn't real, him and Stevie had planned their whole future over their weekend trip, now it was hijacked by his actual girlfriend, he felt awful.
"But Linds, we have to talk about this, maybe we can make it work, I can stay at home and raise our baby, we can get married, the wedding doesn't have to be lavish, just small!" The blonde smiled, trying to make a mistake into a fairytale.
"Marrying you was never in my plan!" Lindsey snapped feeling railroaded.
"But Linds, our baby!" Carol Ann stammered.
"Its too early to plan anything, just go home and think about what you want to do, your carrying it!" Lindsey stated "You already adopted a kid out, do you want to have another, do you even want to have it at all?" He asked scratching his head because he considered it as entirely her decision.
"Do you want me to abort it?" Carol Ann asked hurt.
"Its your choice Carol, just go home and think about it okay!" Lindsey said trying to be calm because he knew neither of them had ever planned this. He wouldn't have cared if it were Stevie standing there telling him he was going to be a father, but it was Carol saying those very words.
Carol Ann nodded and left the building in tears, she had expected him to go off more, but she sensed whatever they shared was gone and assumed it was of course to do with Stevie again.
"Stevie, please talk to me!" Mick cooed, standing up and walking over to her as she stood in the locked room, with her back facing him, her whole world felt like it was crashing down around her, Carol Ann was carrying a nine week old baby, which belonged to Lindsey, the love of Stevie's life. She felt useless, second best, absolute despair and she couldn't do anything about it, in her eyes, she had lost Lindsey.
"I'm leaving early, I'm not ready to talk yet, I'm too sober!" Stevie stuttered, trying to keep her composure in front of him as she started walking away from Mick and huddling herself, she didn't want him to see the fresh tears that streamed down her face as she felt her future flood down into a watery abyss that she seemed she would never get back, ever, ever again, so she suddenly grabbed a paper cup full of whiskey and swigged it back like it was the only beverage left in the whole entire galaxy, all she wanted was to numb herself, like so many times before.
"Stevie, what is it!" Mick asked, resting his hand on her shoulder and breaking her shattered thoughts.
"Leave me alone!" She sighed, deflated like a balloon with no air left inside of it, her heart and soul felt empty as she shrugged his hand off and started looking for an escape route, then there was a banging on the door.
"Stevie, I know you in there!" Called out a frantic Lindsey and Mick went to open the door.
"Don't you fucking dare let him in here!" Stevie snapped grabbing Mick's arm, her usual warm brown eyes turning to an amber shade like a cracked crystal that was heating up in the coals off a slow burning volcano that was about to erupt like a tornado in a hurricane.
Mick paused, feeling caught in the middle "Stevie!" Lindsey called out "We need to talk!" He exclaimed in pure desperation, wanting to tell her some way they could all manage even if Carol Ann had the baby and everything went fine.
"Let him talk Stevie!" Mick pleaded, never having liked the rift that was so easily stirred between the two lovers, they were like fire and gasoline.
"Fuck off, this isn't your business!" Stevie snapped, glaring "Worry about your own failed marriage you big idiot!" She then clamped her hand over her mouth as she watched Mick's expression turn to hurt "I'm sorry!" She stuttered but he shook his head, forcing a smile as his own heart hurt again, burning from her words.
"Don't be sorry, I have no right, I just don't want others hurting like I am!" Mick chuckled softly.
"I'm sorry okay, I just cant do this right now, I cant deal with Lindsey right now, tell him, I just need time alone and not to bother me!" Stevie half yelled, shaking her head and rushing out the back exit door, fumbling in her purse for her car keys as she rushed off into the parking lot and around the building, soon unlocking, jumping in her car and speeding away, she couldn't deal with anything, she just needed something to fix her broken heart.
