Chapter 18 Fighting through Souls Madness! The battle continues!

A/N: I've been away for a long time, and that is pretty mean of me... Life has been a total b*tch, pulling me away to do other things (how long have I been away btw??). Anyway, here's ch18 everyone!! It won't be too long before this is over, so enjoy!

As Maka swam through the darkening madness residing in Soul to free him from it, the battle commenced on with Lorranna, Kid, and Black Star against the Kishin.

Even as the three of us were doing some serious work on it, they weren't making any other progress besides the scar Lorranna had managed to make that now looked to be slowly healing. It was really frustrating.

Apparently Kid felt much of the same way, as I heard him talking to himself of how he had been simply watching from the sidelines, mentioning his father that had taken a blow that had severely injured him by the Kishin that was aimed at him.

"Kishin Asura! In the name of Death, I shall purge you!" Kid yelled, pointing his Death Cannons at the Kishin as I felt his Soul Wavelength slowly rising in power, as if booting to commence an intense attack. "Liz! Patty! Let's do this!"

"Soul Resonance!" With a cry, his Soul Wavelength as he resonated with his weapons became visible without looking at his soul and continued growing exponentially.

Seeing a surprised look on Black Star's face at Kid's transformation, I put a comforting hand on his shoulder and continued to watch as he transformed in front of us. "Kid is about to show us his trump card Black Star. Let's give him back-up, ok?." he only nodded, mouth open in awe.

But as soon as I opened my mouth to say those words, the only warning the Kishin gave before striking was an insane grin, sending an extended finger to pierce right through Kid, his eyes open as he laid motionless.....

A heartbeat passed....

And then another.....

"KID! NOOOOOOO!!!!!" Lorranna screamed, her heart almost visibly cracking in two. Scrambling to get to Kid's body, she scooped him into his arms as the Kishin only laughed with insanity. After a moment, however, Lorranna then rounded on the kishin with a look of grief mixed with fiery rage, hot tears threatening to fall from her eyes.

She only had one thought at that moment.

'He's going to DIE!!!'

To everyone's surprise, Lorranna's Soul Resonance began flaring like a shooting star, and it was so intense that Black Star and Tsubaki could almost feel heat coming off of it. She started to swing her kusarigama around rapidly, the blade swelling with energy until it was only visible as a swirling vortex of blinding light! The blonde's eyes were glowing, as she focused her rage at the thing that hurt the boy she cared about... the boy she realized she loved...

And then, with expert precision, she swung the blade right at Asura.

It made a deep, serious gash in the Kishin's side, nearly severing his left arm, causing him to let out a loud shout of pain, as he used his good arm to stabilize himself from falling over.

Black Star could only stare in complete shock as he watched Lorranna tear into the Kishin like swiss cheese on a grater, releasing her fury again and again without letting it attack back. He had managed to crawl over to where Kid laid motionless on the ground so he could fend off any body part Lorranna managed to cut off the Kishin.

But man! He had managed to piss her off before, but this was on a whole new level! He definitely was never gonna make her mad after this..... He liked having his limbs where they were. Glancing down at Kid, he was almost, sort of glad that he wasn't able to see his girlfriend going Supernova on the Kishin since it might've scared him off.... He didn't care what Maka had told him!

Lorranna continued to tear into the Kishin, her mind only filled with the thought of ending it painfully as much as possible. As she was about to go for it's throat for the third time, some part of Lorranna that had not fallen into bloodlust sensed tremors going through the ground that were quickly getting worse.

Looking for the cause, Lorranna's eyes landed on her fallen comrade- her love. Pure, hot energy pulsed for a moment before it shot out from his body. His eyes, once lifeless, now pulsed with energy and were completely an electric blue like her own were before slowly dying down at the scene of Kid rising due to an unseen force.

By now, his soul was once more visible, flickering purple energy around it, taking on an appearance similar to the boy with his tri-striped hair. Even though his weapons cried out in confusion to their Meister, Kid remained in an awake-comatose state. Slowly, one by one, the white stripes on Kid's hair began to connect themselves, creating the three lines of Sanzu!

The Kishin, taking notice of this, pointed his weapon at Kid.

"Oh no you don't!!!!!" Lorranna cried out, hitting the corrupt soul once more with her energized Kusarigama, making a large cut along the back of its ankles as Black Star gave it a solid right hook, causing the large Kishin to lose balance due to the simultaneous attack.

Again and again, Black Star continued his assault on the soul, sending wave after wave of continuous barrages to its jaw and face, laced with his own destructive wavelength, as Kid prepared his unconscious attack as the third line was completed!

"Resonance at 2,000%?! This is insane!" Cried Liz as the new Death Cannons revealed themselves to appear golden and much larger than before. With the feedback totally complete, Kid readied to fire, sending a beam of red and green energy perfectly centered on Asura. "Kaboom!!" Yelled Patty as the attack was sent flying.

When it hit, a large column of smoke and dust was thrown into the air where Black Star moved closer to me as the Kishin disappeared into the light.

As everything seemed to die down, Black Star and I looked back over at Kid who appeared exhausted from the attack, collapsing. Quickly moving to catch him, I ran over before he fully hit the ground, his head landing in her lap.

How funny. When Kid had first come to DWMA and had fought against Black Star and Soul, he exhausted himself much of the same way,causing her to catch him similarly as well. Looking down at his face, appearing to be sleeping, I couldn't help but smile softly at how cute he looked at this moment.

"Umm... Lorranna... I don't think things are over just yet...." Black Star muttered out, his eyes fixed on the "remains" of the Kishin which now transformed back into its smaller form. Bringing her soul Wavelength back into high alert, she wondered now what it would take to end this war against an opponent like this..
