A thick cloud clung to the sky making everything dark, a large RiverClan cat plodded along the bank of the river holding a young kit in his mouth. As he walked the kit squealed but was soon silence but the purring of the cat. Just behind him a she-cat followed.

"Longclaw, are you sure about this?" The she-cat asked as she quickened her pace to catch up with him.

"Shh Goldeneye. You will wake the whole forest." The tom cat replied, goldeneye (the she-cat) nodded.

"Sorry Longclaw. But are you sure about this? She is the only thing you have left of Berrypelt, are you sure you want to just give her away?"

Longclaw carried on walked, the kit asleep in his jaws.

"Yes, this is better for her. She should not have to suffer the hard life of a warrior like her mother had to and father has to." He replied through the fur of the kit, Goldeneye nodded. "Yes very well Longclaw. But what should I tell Lightstar?"

Longclaw stopped and stared at the ground before placing the kit down, he turned his head to look at the she-cat just a few paw steps behind him.

"Tell him she was stolen by a group of rogues when I took her to see her mother."

Goldeneye nodded. "Very well, but you have no scars or mark to show your story is true."

Longclaw sighed and turned his whole body to face her. "Attack me, I won't fight back."

Goldeneye stared at him before dipping her head, she brought her paw up into the air and as she brought it down her claws stick out and struck Longclaw's muzzle. He jumped a little but made no sound, Goldeneye lunged into him and bit down on his back of neck a few times till she drew blood. Longclaw pulled away.

"That should do."

Longclaw plodded along towards the twolegs place, the blood had started to dry by now and Goldeneye had headed back to RiverClan to tell Lightstar that Puddlekit had been stolen when Goldeneye and Longclaw took her to the place where her mother had been berried. He slowly plodded along before placing the kit on the ground and let out a soft meow, a few moments late a large black Tom and small white she-cat jumped up into the fence.

"Longclaw." The she-cat purred. "Is this the kit you brought us?"

Longclaw nodded. "Yes."

The Tom jumped down and picked the kit up before jumping back onto the fence. "I will put her with the others." he mumbled through the kit's fur. "The twolegs will think you had another, there smell is too weak to know otherwise." The Tom jumped down and disappeared into the darkness, the she-cat jumped down and licked Longclaw's ear. "We will care for her as if she was our own."
