"Wake up Crystalpaw!" Wildpaw howled from outside the Apprentices' den, Crystalpaw groaned before forcing herself up onto her paws. Thoughs racing through her head about Berrypelt and the message she had brought her that night, she was yet to understand StarClan and Berrypelt's message did not help. She stared at Wildpaw as the sun streamed down onto her face causing her to shudder and look away.

"What do you want?" She groaned as memories of Crowpaw streamed back into her mind, Wildpaw sighed but rolled his eyes.

"We are being tested today, Longclaw sent me to get you." Wildpaw replied softly with a quiet purr.

"Oh, yeah... I forgot."

"How could you forget? If things go well today we will be made warriors."

Crystalpaw groaned before nodding. "Yeah. Yeah. Lets get this over with." She said before plodding over to a group of cats Lightstar was talking to, she guessed that they were going to be the warriors watching us for the test. Wildpaw rolled his eyes before running after her keeping a couple of paw steps behind, As they got closer Crystalpaw was able to spot Longclaw, Swifteye, Smallpaw, Honeypaw, Spottedpelt, Longstripe and... Echopaw.

Fox-Dung! Crystalpaw hissed to herself before sitting down next to her mentor, Longclaw. Longclaw turned his head and looked down at Crystalpaw with a look that we strange. It was nothing like his normal look of love for his apprentice, this look was more of a love for a kit. She had only even seen the look being used my Queens as they looked at their kits. Crystalpaw shivered as her eyes met Longclaw, her fur prickled as his look deepened.

"Alright then." Lightstar meowed. Thank StarClan. Crystalpaw purred to herself as she looked over at lightstar. "honeypaw you will hunt by the stepping stones, Wildpaw you will hunt at the river, Smallpaw you will hunt by the Twolegs-Bridge, Echopaw you will hunt near the Twolegs nest and Crystalpaw you will hunt on the moorlands near the gorge."

Crystalpaw nodded as she felt her head begin to pound inside her chest. "Yes Lightstar." Each apprentice said one after the other.

"Now remember. your mentors will be following you and will tell me how well your hunting skills are." Lightstar added. "Yoou may begin." With that the apprentices bounded out of the camp each throwing themselves into the river and swimming across before splitting up.

Crystalpaw bounded through the grass and reeds heading towards the large open moor lands, the moorlands were for from her favourite hunting grounds and Lightstar knew that well. She guessed that, that was why she had been sent out here in the first place. As she ran she could feel the blood bounding inside her ears, when she woke up she didn't think she would be so worried after the night before but at this moment all she could think about was becoming a warrior.

She stopped as she reached the moorlands, the grass was shorter now and it meant she would have to work harder to hunt here. Her body flattened and her steps lessened as she plodded along. She took small, deep breath as she shook her hunches to keep her paw from making any sounds.

As she watched she could see the grass moving, something was out there. Rabbit! Crystalpaw purred to herself as a pair of browny-grey ears popped up from the grass. This is is, im going to be a warrior. The rabbit stood there eating happily upwind from Crystalpaw paw, so unaware of what was about to happen.

Bam!

Crystalpaw delivered the killing blow, the rabbit went limp and lifeless in her jaws. She purred as she slowly lowered the rabbit down onto the ground and covered it over with dirt.

As the day went on Crystalpaw collected two rabbit, three voles and her first robin. She was now heading through the long grass with her robin and a vole in her jaws, she still needed to collect the other two voles and two rabbits. Im going to be made a warrior, thats for sure.

"Well done." A voice said from behind the small apprentice, her head span around as her fur prickled.

"Longclaw." She meowed as her mentor plodded over.

"You did very well." He said as he picked up the rest of the prey on the group before purring, his soft eyes calming and reassuring her.

"Did I?"

The RiverClan deputy nodded before walking past her and flicked his tail telling her to follow, she nodded before plodding after her mentor.
