Warriors: Wild eyes

Chapter Twenty-Four

When the two RiverClan cats made it back to camp it was well past dusk and both of them couldn't wait to rest their paws, and fill their bellies.

"Welcome back." Wildpaw greeted as he plodded over, leaving Honeypaw and Echopaw. Crystalpaw greeted him with a sharp nod before picking up the pace to keep up with the large black deputy.

"Wait here." Longclaw ordered as he placed the fresh-kill on the pile, Crystalpaw nodded before sitting now next to the pile and watched as her mentor plodded off to the leader's den and greeted Lightstar. They spoke for a while but Crystalpaw was too far away to hear or see what they were talking about, but when Longclaw came back there was something in his eyes that made the RiverClan apprentice feel uneasy.

"Whats wrong?" She asked with a small purred.

"Oh, its nothing you need to worry about. Now go get Echopaw and Wildpaw, you three will need to get some sleep before moonhigh." Longclaw replied in a soft, low tone.

"Why?"

"Your full of questions today, huh?" Longclaw laughed. "You three will be made warriors at Moonhigh so you will need to get some sleep; and something to eat."

Crystalpaw stared at Longclaw unsure on what to say, she had finaly done it. She was going to be a warrior and fight for her clan.

"R-Really?" She asked as she looked at Wildpaw and Echopaw.

"Yes." Longclaw nodded. "Now on you go." Crystalpaw nodded before bouncing off to find her clanmates, whom were trying to pick something from the fresh-kill pile but could not make their minds up.

"Hey." Crystalpaw greeted with a purr as he grabbed a mouse, Echopaw dipped his head before grabbing one too.

"So, how did you do?" Wildpaw asked as he sat down and cleaned his forepaws.

"Great, and guess what." Crystalpaw said trying to keep calm and not give anything away. Echopaw lifted his head and cocked it to the side as he looked confessed.

"We are going to be warriors."

"What?" Echopaw blurted out, almost spitting the mouthful of mouse as he did so.

"Smallpaw and Honeypaw too?" Wildpaw asked as he grabbed a fish from the pile.

"I don't think so." She replied as she shook her head. "Longclaw only told me that we were going to be made warriors and that we need to eat then rest."

"Why?"

"Because our warrior ceremony will be at MoonHigh." Wildpaw and Echopaw stared at Crystalpaw its disbelief.

"Really?" They asked at almost the same time, Crystalpaw nodded and purred before grabbing a small piece of fresh-kill the. Headed for the apprentices' den. Her two friends both followed close behind her with their fresh-kill dangling from their small jaws, once they were all sat down they started to eat. After eating the small amounts of fresh-kill the three soon to be warriors got up and headed for their nests, each of them itching to get to sleep so their ceremonies would come sooner.

"Crystalpaw? Wildpaw? Echopaw?" Longclaw called as he poked his head into the apprentices' den, the three apprentices slowly lifted their heads and stared at the deputy. "It's time." The three apprentices lept up onto their paws and bounded out of the den, one by one.

"RiverClan." Lightstar greeted from the TalkingCliff. "Let every cat old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the TalkingCliff." One by one cats started to gather under the TalkingCliff, with Wildpaw, Crystalpaw and Echopaw sat next to their mentors ender it with their bags facing the stony-dirt cliff.

"I, Lightstar. leader of RiverClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as a warrior in their turn Crystpaw, Wildpaw and Echopaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

"I do." Crystalpaw said with her head held high, her bright blue eyes glowing.

"I do." Wildpaw said swiftly after as he pushed out his chest.

"As do i." Echopaw said seconds after Wildpaw.

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Crystalpaw, from this moment you will be known as Crystalpool. StarClan honours your Bravery and your spread, we welcome you as a full warrior of RiverClan. Wildpaw, from this moment you will be known as Wildfire. StarClan honours your strength and loyalty, we welcome you as a full warrior of RiverClan. Echopaw, from this moment you will be known as Echofeather. StarClan honours your hunting skills and caring heart, we welcome you as a full warrior of RiverClan."

The three newly made warriors turned to face their leader as he scrambled down the TalkingCliff and over to them, his eyes locked on theirs. Firstly he walked over to Crystalpool and placed his muzzle on her head as she licked his shoulder, he then want to Wildfire doing the same and finally Echofeather.

"Crystalpool! Wildfire! Echofeather!" The clan chanted over and over as the newly made warriors stood before them.
