"you know, you're the only person i can truly talk to." he turned his attention to her.

"what do you mean?" she took a deep breath.

"i have friends, i have my brothers and my mom, but i can never really talk to them. i'm not super close with any of my friends, my brothers don't really care, and my mom has enough to worry about with my dad and brothers, as well as being the only adult who works." she stared at the moon. "but with you, i can talk freely. i don't have to filter anything - at least not really. you listen and don't judge what i say." he smiled.

"i'll always listen to you, no matter what you say." vulnerability shone in her eyes as she looked at him.

"promise?"

"i promise." she smiled.

"then i promise to do the same, to always listen." his smile was soft.

they sat in comfortable silence, looking at the cloudy sky.

"can you promise me something else?" she looked at him.

"anything."

"promise me that you won't abandon me." she smiled and leaned her head on his shoulder.

"i promise. i'll never leave you. ever."
