Chapter 60
Day 110…
3 days had passed. As usual, Hae-young came to walk me to school every morning. This was probably the only time we have where we’re at least alone with each other.
His behaviour hadn’t changed one bit towards Joo-hee. He’s even more attached to her than ever. And by doing that he’s been hurting me more and more.
The way he didn’t talk about this whole thing made me feel like he was avoiding the truth. The truth that he no longer needs me…
During lunch time, Joo-hee joined us again. It’s been happening everyday since she came to this school. And every time she was there, she dominated the conversation with Hae-young and he seemed happy with it.
“Yah, you haven’t touched your food.” Sung-soo said to me whilst Joo-hee chattered away.
“I don’t feel like eating.”
“But you gotta eat. You’ll get sick if you don’t eat anything.”
“You want to help me eat? ^-^ ” I asked and pushed my lunch box to him.
“No. You eat them.” he said persistently and pushed back the lunch box.
I slowly started eating again. I saw Sung-soo watching me eat and I realized that for the past few days he always talked to me. He never before talked to me 5 days in a row. And I noticed he always sat in front of me too. He always had in fact, ever since I came to this school. Every time someone else sits in his place, he’d tell them to go away.
I knew he was being nice because he sympathised me. I never thought he could pity me though. I mean, it’s me.
I continued eating until Sung-soo interrupted again.
“Yah…” he said and started gesturing with his hand on his mouth.
“Oh, you hungry?” I asked and pushed my lunch box to him.
“No, no…” he said in between giggles. “There’s rice on your lip…” he continued and brushed his finger against my bottom lip. “There you go. ^_^ ”
I smiled in embarrassment and then realized everybody was looking at us. I saw Hae-young looking at Sung-soo but Sung-soo pretended not to see and kept his eyes on me.
“Sung-soo does look like a good boyfriend, huh?” Joo-hee commented innocently.
Hearing this, Sung-soo was annoyed. He turned to her saying, “Go eat your food. <_< ”
Hae-young cleared his throat and resumed eating.
“Ahh… Sorry I got to practice on your girlfriend, Hae-young.” Sung-soo said. I sensed a tone of sarcasm in his voice.
Hae-young stopped eating and gave an irritated look.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you jealous.” --> Sung-soo, still with that sarcastic voice.
