Ace and Kate were waiting by the doorway.
"Um... Hey." I greeted them, as if nothing happened.
"Hey?" Katie mocked. "You had me worried!" She shouted, causing people passing by to stare.
Ace just gazed at me. I knew he wanted to say something. His gaze was distant and worried at the same time, as if that little scene had brought us further away.
Which it did.
I stood silent. Kate eyes were shiny, I could tell she had wanted to cry, but she was also curious. Her eyes questioned me every time she looked at me.
"Well... Um... I have to go..." I said, tapping Kate on her shoulder.
As I was about to leave, Ace grabbed my arm firmly.
"You can wait a couple of minutes." He said in a monotone voice.
I shuddered. When did he get like this?
He crossed his arms and listened to Kate.
Kate took a deep breath, with a slight shaky sigh underneath it.
"Listen, Poison. I-I care about you. And what you did back there was unsettling. If I may ask... What happened?"
"I-I... I can't tell you." I said, my voice lowering.
Kate stared at me. Ace had his eyes closed, listening to everything that we were saying.
There was a long moment of silence.
Kate shook her head. "Let her go, Ace."
Ace let me leave.
"I'm sorry." I said, silently, whilst walking away with my head down.
So much for having friends.
I shook my head as I went downstairs.
Little did I know, that there was a certain hazel eyed teacher who was listening on everything we were saying.
