As soon as we left the library, it was really quiet. I waved to the others as I walked off.
Sigh...
I felt bad not telling him the reason I wear my hoodie, but I never told anyone. Only my family knows.
Flashback
"Come on Ivy, lets play tag!" shouted my younger sister Lily, who was laughing after a game of hide and seek. I was panting, but I laughed.
"Sure." I smiled.
Suddenly, our mother burst out the back door into the backyard, with a large plate of lemonade and cookies.
"Ivy, Lily! Come take a break and have a quick snack!" she shouted and left the plate on the little table on the patio.
I ran over and sat down to eat. Lily sat next to me.
"Hey, Ivy..." she looked over to me.
"Yes?" I looked back.
"Who's that?" she pointed to a dark figure, standing by the fence, staring at us.
I took one look at the figure.
"Lily, I think you should get inside." I whispered to her. She nodded, and quickly rushed into the house. But it was too late. I heard a loud shriek and rushed right after Lily to see mom sitting on the floor, crying. In front of her, was my father.
"W-wha..." a chill ran up my spine.
Lily slowly walked over to mom and sat down next to her. I ran over to my father.
"H-he... he can't be..." I trembled with fear. I stepped back.
Suddenly, Lily was grabbed in a choke hold, with a knife placed to her neck. It was that figure we saw earlier.
"No!" I screamed.
Suddenly, I dashed toward the man and grabbed his arm tightly.
"Let go!" I shouted at him.
He smirked and pulled the knife from Lily's neck. Lily fell to the ground. He stared at me.
With a quick slash of the small blade, a large gash emerged on my eye.
Falling to the ground in shock, I yelped in pain and covered my eye.
My mom quickly ran over to me and shook me.
But, I was already unconscious.
End of Flashback
I placed a hand over my right eye as I remembered the pain. I kept walking faster till I got home.
