After a while, lunchtime came. I walked up to the lunch ladies, where they offered me several options. One offered me a burger with cheese, and a bottled water along the side of it. Another offered me four chicken wings with rice, and milk. The last lady offered me a grilled cheese, and water. I took the burger, and paid my money. then took a seat at a completely empty table. Right as I was about to take the first bite of my burger, I was interrupted by two people.
"Hi!" said Kate, and smiled happily.
"Hey." said Ace, and he smiled as well. They both sat down at the table.
Why are they sitting here...?
"So..." sighed Kate.
Ace laughed. "Poison, you seem a bit quiet." he gently waved his hand in front of my face, pulling me out of my thoughts.
"Oh, um, hi guys," I said quickly. They both laughed. I blushed. "S-sorry for zoning out..." I apologized.
"It's cool." said Ace, as he waved his hand in dismissal. Kate nodded.
Do they think I'm their friends now?
I smiled faintly.
"What are you smiling about?" asked Kate.
"O-oh, it's nothing..." I said, a bit flustered. They both gave me a strange look. I pulled my hood by it's strings.
...Why am I getting so worked up?
After lunch, I had a class with both Kate and Ace.
"I'm going to assign you guys a project," said the teacher. "Conduct an experiment. Make sure it has to do with science." The whole class nodded. "You may pick two people as your partners."
In the corner of my eye, Kate was smiling. Ace glanced as me, and nodded. I nodded to both of them.
We're going to work together. As friends...
