So, naturally, instead of answering me and talking things through with me, Alex tossed her phone away. Why does that not surprise me? Probably because everyone I've ever loved has always walked away from me. Like my Dad...Justin...
In all honesty, if it wasn't for that Mila Clearwater person who found Alex's phone, I probably would have ended up like my no good, dirty rotten, rat-bastard father. Never letting go until I had an eight-year-old...then leaving my child and Alex, and that's not something I wanted to do.
Anyway, I reached the cemetery that Mila had asked me to meet her in at quarter after eleven. An hour after Mila had asked me to meet her. I cut the engine of my '86 Chevy Silverado truck and grabbed my phone off the passenger seat.
I jumped out of the truck, locked it, and headed to the river bank. If someone had told me two or three years ago that I would be walking through a cemetery, two days before Halloween, to meet up with a strange, unknown girl to get Alex's phone so that I could see if she was cheating on me because she wasn't being honest with me...well, I would have knocked them out. and yet, here I am doing just that, for the exact same reason! What, the hell? Was I really that paranoid? Was I really that much like Justin? Or was I just that obsessed with Alex?
When I reached the river bank, I saw a girl leaning against a thick oak tree, holding Alex's Roger's LT phone tightly in her hand. As I got closer, her head turned towards me. She was wearing a black dress that fell just above her ankles, and her feet were bare. She stood up fully and looked at me. She may have looked like she was there for a funeral...but I got a feeling that she already had one...
“Are you...Em?” she asked me, her voice soft, timid, and scared.
“Yes, but its short for Emmerson. You must be Mila.”
She nodded. She looked me over, and then blushed. “I'm sorry if this sounds rude, but I thought...”
I smiled briefly at her. “That I was a girl?”
Mila blushed darker. “Yes...I am sorry.”
I looked her over. She was hot...and I mean HOT!!! I mean, Alex is pretty cute, but Mila is just...mind blowing!
She was about five foot ten, with a slender, yet curvy, body. Mila's hair was long, straight, and dark brown. It fell just below her waist, and it looked so thick I wondered what it would be like to run my fingers through her hair and play with it. and her eyes...God her eyes! They were a beautiful watery blue colour, framed with long, thick eyelashes.
Mila handed me Alex's phone, asking; “Was Alex short for something as well?”
I bit back my laugh as I took Alex's phone and nodded. I checked her text messages, and sure enough, Matthew Knight, the biggest nerd, player, and liar in all of Transylvania, had been texting her, and sexting her! Fucking sonofabitch!
The last text that Alex had received from Matthew, which was around eight or nine days ago, read;
Hey ma sexy ;) toss ur phone! I got u a newer one with ma num already in it! so, bbg <3 Em shouldn't be able 2 bother u anymore ;)
“Emmerson?”
Mila's voice brought me back to reality. That there was a super-hot girl standing in front of me, and I couldn't let my bitch of an ex go. I looked over to her. “Yeah? What's up?”
“Are you well? You have been silent for several moments...did I say something to upset you?”
She was so well spoken, so well mannered; it was like she was raised in a different time period. I looked at her, shaking my head.
