Third person's POV

From a distance, Elise could see children playing from the yard with a safe distance from the forest. Although it can work as a distraction, nothing could really work and it's all thanks to the man currently sitting, rather comfortably, beside her.

Elise is filled with questions. Questions that bombarded her, each one managing to make her heart pound even harder inside her chest. How did he knew my room? What is his intentions?? Did he want to finish the process already? Oh no, what if i'm not ready?? Or maybe he's leaving?  Can he hear my heart pound? How can he be this calm when i'm a mess inside??

Her thoughts were cut off when she heard him chuckle. She whipped her head fast, looking at him curiously.

"What?" she asked nervously.
"I could almost hear your thoughts Eli. Your thinking hard, your face said it all. Nothing bad happened. I just want to ask you something. I just wanted to spend a little more quiet time before i ask you"

His reply made her cheeks even more red, resembling a sweet strawberry. What he said next made her embarass herself that she did something she was not able to do all those years ago.

"Adorable"

A few minutes already passed when Ravien decided that the silence is enough. He turned to his mate and held her stare.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

It was almost quiet. But Elise heard it nonetheless.

"What didn't i tell you?" Elise asked genuinely curious.
"About your mission"

Elise froze. No one else knew about it except for the Alpha and Luna, Kathy and Marco. So how did Ravien knew about it when as far as she knew, everyone swore to secrecy?

"How did you know?"
"I saw you Eli. I went to get after you but decided to take a trip to the Alpha's office instead. He said he sworn to secrecy and can't break any promises so he just told me you had a mission. That's all i know, don't worry"

Elise visibly relaxed. She thought Ravien was mad because she didn't tell him sooner, for a good reason too.

"It's okay if you can't tell me yet. I understand. Take your time, i'm not forcing you or anything. I was just genuinely curious is all"

Elise was eternally grateful for his patience and for being understanding. She softly sent a smile in his way.

"Do you have time?"

Elise finally decided to tell him because she believed it is no use in keeping it a secret especially when he had been nothing but sincere.

"I always do have for you."

*****

"When i was 9 years of age, my family and i were out on a picnic just outside the pack grounds. We were happy. Having a family bonding. Away from pack issues, away from stress. Just a nice, relaxing day with the whole family. Just then rogues came attacking us so suddenly. My dad hid me in a bush. I was small so they can't really see me. My mom fought back and dad protected her. They protected me. The rogues knew i was there somewhere but still they kept attacking them. Ruthlessly, i'd say. I was crying hysterically all the while trying to keep it together so that they won't hear me. But then a huge burly man came out and killed them. Infront of my own two eyes. The warriors came and managed to kill half of the rogues but nothing can be done to save my parents. They found me and brought me home. But i was alone. My parents are gone all because they wanted to protect me because i was defenseless. Ever since then, everything change. My father's bestfriend took over the pack because i wasn't prepared to rule over. The members always look at me in pity and avoided me. Afraid i'll explode one day. They treated me like a ticking bomb. It hurted. But i'm fine now, i guess. I got used to it. 6 years later i started to take it as my mission to run after the murderer. Turns out it was also the same man who was behind the mass murder the rest of my family was killed of. Revenge turned to something more than just wanting justice. Every week i go back to the forest and hunt. I come back sometimes with a hint, a clue. A step closer. But sometimes, i come back empty handed. Which drives me to be more determined."

"Why black rose?"

"Because rose is my mom's second name, only few having the privilege to know that fact. And also it was her favorite flower. Black...." She trailed off then turned to look at him slowly.

Eyes glazed with unshed tears, sad smile gracing her features.

And in that moment, the girl standing in front of him was not the girl everyone knew of. It was a lonely, sad girl who experienced great loss in her life and having to suffer through it alone.

"Because it symbolizes the grief i felt when i lost two people i hold dear in my heart"

And it was that second Ravien vowed to hinself to not let her suffer through this alone. Not anymore.

He took her in a hug, one she hadn't received when her parents died. A comforting hug. She didn't waste time to return it back loving the affection she only experienced once in her life.
