Chapter 12

Rosie's POV

"So I guess I will see you around New York." We finally reached New York and Jared and I were at the baggage claims.

"Well I guess this is where we say goodbye." Jared said as he handed me his phone. "Just in case you get bored." I hesitated but eventually took the phone and saved my number.

"Rosie! Rosie!" I turned around to see Mr. Harris. He is a family friend.

"Mr.Harris, Good to see you, I thought one of my parents was coming to pick me up." I sounded bummed.

"I'm sorry Rosie. They were busy. Your mom has been practically living in the hospital".

" So she- She called you to come get me. I understand." I couldn't hide the disappointment in my eyes. Jared patted my back. To be honest I totally forgot he was still behind me.

"Hey, If you want, Wanna hang out with me today? I don't necessarily need to get home just yet." Jared offered. Of course I want to but I dont want to keep him away from his family. They probably are really anxious to see him.

"Thanks Jared, but you should really go see your family, They must be really anxious to see you." I stated. Jared being Jared he didn't take No for an answer. Definitely not in this case.

Jared attempted to do the puppy dog eyes. He really did try, but he just looked constipated.

"Um If i say yes will you stop doing that doing that "I need to poo" face?" I laughed.

"How Rude! I'll have you know this is My infamous Puppy dog eyes. Cute Huh?" Jared boasted.  Causing Mr.Harris to snicker.

"It was cute!" He retorted. Looking somewhat offended. This of course caused me to roar with laughter.

"Oh alright! Lets go. I'm sorry for making you come all the way here Mr.Harris." He shook his head and gave me a fatherly smile.

"No need to apologize Rosie, You have fun. I'll let your parents know that you went with a friend."

"Actually, just tell them that  decided to drive myself from the airport, and to not expect me till dinner." I said.

Mr.Harris tipped his little drivers hat and made his way out of the Airport. As soon as we no longer saw his shadow Jared grabbed my carry on ignoring my protests. Jared reached into his duffel bag pocket and retrieved his car keys.

"Wasn't going to leave Jenna back in D.C" He stated. He tossed me the keys.

"You drive. My shoulder hurts. You have a big head" "Hey! I do not!" Jared just laughed and told me to open the trunk. After adjusting everything for my height I started the engine and finally sped out of the parking garage.

"So where do you wanna go?"  I asked Jared while keeping my focus on the road. New York is certainly the city that never sleeps. It's always changing, always busy. Some say it's the city where dreams come true.

"Let's stop by my house real quick, there's someone I would like you to meet." Jared said as he was putting in the address into the navigation system.

I was having a hard time hiding my emotions, and boy was I nervous as hell. I felt a hand on my shoulder. I kept my eyes on the road trying to forget what Jared had said.

"Turn Left after this light."

I did as I was told, after a few more minutes of driving around we came upon a gated community. Big houses, clean neighborhood.

"Oh turn here." Jared at this point was like a little kid who was really excited for a day on the beach or an amusement park.

We got out of the car, I handed Jared the keys and hugged my cardigan close to me.
