Exhausted, Hana observed her older brother as he chewed on a piece of bacon. It wasn't much, but she'd gotten up early enough to make them an actual breakfast; bacon, eggs, and a pancake. All night, her nerves had eaten at her, leading her to waking up extra early and trying to keep herself busy.

She felt terrible for how she tried to tease Jungkook back yesterday, knowing that she'd taken it too far. She didn't quite understand why it made him so indifferent towards her when they were finally become friends, but she did understand that it affected him in some way, and it made her feel bad.

"Chan, were you ever an asshole to any of the girls you liked?" Hana always felt awkward about going to her brother for advice about guys, so she never directly asked for it. Not like she needed to anyways, he always seemed to know when something was going on.

"No," he said between a mouthful of syrup saturated pancake, "Usually the goal is to get them to like you back. So my question to you is: who is being an asshole to you? Don't lie to me, I'll kick everybody's ass until I kick the right one." Agitated, Hana shot Chan a crippling glance. She didn't want any harm to come to Jungkook, she just wanted to understand.

"Nobody," Hana lied immediately, "It's just my friend, ah, Rina. Her boyfriend has been a jerk lately." It was a far cry from the truth, but it was better than admitting to Chan what was going on. She was an adult, a whole ass woman. She didn't need Chan's over-protectiveness, although it did make her feel better.

"Rina, she's your best friend now, right?" Chan gathered their now empty plates, heading to the sink to wash them.

"Yeah," Hana muttered, already feeling guilty about the lie she'd told.

"Well, I'll kick her boyfriend's ass, too."

Without the giddiness she had yesterday before work started, she stared at her computer. Tired of waiting around at home, she bit the bullet and decided to come to work, this time earlier than usual. So early, that even Jungkook wasn't here yet. In all honesty, she dreaded seeing him today, knowing that he would be cold and distant just like before. This time, however, it was her fault.

Her silent pity party was interrupted as a cup of coffee was placed on her desk. It wasn't the Starbucks that Taehyung usually handed to her, but a local shop. And it wasn't Rina's nice penmanship that made the note on the cup, but familiar chicken scratch that she only recognized by chance.

I'm sorry.

Hana looked up to see Jungkook returning her gaze, his midnight doe eyes soft this time, instead of harsh. He stood casually, his hands resting in his pockets, his bottom lip sucked in under his top teeth. She looked back at the coffee, slightly confused before returning her wondering eyes back to him.
