(Para sighs as she waits for the scene to load. PJ huddles under a blanket, muttering a debate to himself. Ink huddles under a different blanket, sneakily trying to text.
"....Peebie-Jeebie, you're not getting cold feet, aaarree yoouuu~?" Para glances back at him, and he tries to give her a tough look.
"No! I'm just...concerned about how this will go!" Para snorts.
"The saaame way the others went~! Happy Endings all around~!" Ink glances at her.
".....even for this one...?" Para flaps a hand.
"Yep yep yep~! Although, a major warning for blood and scary survivalist scenarios ahead~...also some hard sex~. Like, what you'd expect from a 'Fell~....and then some~. Because, ya know, horror~...." Para smiles sweetly at the two skeletons, and they stare back warily.
"....Greeeaaaaat....." PJ looks at the remote in his hand, passing it to Ink. The defender looks at the piece of plastic with unease before he passes it down to the created. Para snickers.
"Scaredy-skulls~!" She pushes play...)

You race for the safety of your home. The sun was sinking below the horizon, and the woods weren't safe after dark. Hell, nowhere was safe after dark anymore. Not since the barrier fell.Vaulting over a fallen tree, you adjust your bow and quiver. Scary stories about the monsters that hunted and ate humans had been plentiful in the past, and everyone had treated them as cautious fairytales. Just stories. Things you tell little kids to get them to come home before dark and not to talk to strangers.
When the barrier fizzled out of existence, no one knew just how true the stories would turn out to be. It was the suburbs that were hit first. Whole families vanishing in the middle of the night. Suddenly, everyone started locking their doors, installing motion detection flood lights, investing in state of the art security systems.
The cabin was in sight, and you desperately put on a burst of speed. Those fancy security measures had done fuck-all when night fell again. The suburbs were emptied in a matter of days, less than a week for each neighborhood. Then, then came the desperate evacuation of the city.
Your steps this along the wooden porch, and you bypass the front door. Leaping over the railing on the opposite side, you land and roll backwards, underneath the wooden slats. Army crawling, you tug on a thin wire in the ground. A portion of the earth lifts up, just barely enough for you to work your way into an empty space. Clinging to the edge, you start to swing your legs for momentum, then let go.
The evacuation worked, for those who could afford to pack up their lives and move. The rest, well...those left behind usually didn't live in fear for long. You try not to remember the faces and names of people you once knew. Grief dulled the senses, made you vulnerable. At least, in this world gone mad. Once the Monsters moved into the city, the rest of the world sealed the area off. The King had laughed at the militaries that had mobilized, and it was only after a violent four months that the two species seemed to fall into an uneasy stale-mate.
