I bent over, completely out of breath and saw a bright flash of light, then two guards who had rushed in fell down, obviously dead. The spell I cast had worn off, it sent me out of the simulation for a little while and rejuvenated me, however, that was hours ago.
"So, finally decided to give me a break Leon?" I asked.
"This time, no, I thought you'd like to leave this piece of crap hell hole you're in." Said a very familiar voice.
I turned to face where the voice came from and saw that it wasn't Leon at all but his son, James.
"Well if it isn't my knight in shining armor." I said sarcastically.
"Well, I am rescuing you and this invisible armor used to be quite shiny." James said, a maniacal grin on his face.
"Oh, haha, very funny." I said, as he tried to help me up.
"Ow,ow,ow. I got cut pretty badly in that fight, right here."I explained.
"Oh, hang on." James said, as he placed his hand gently over the wound.
I sucked in a breath, and then, the pain was gone. One minute, tons of pain, the next, none.
"Come on, Harold told me the only weakness in this simulation, and it's not close." James said.
He handed me a new whistle, different from the one that called Blaze, but otherwise, similar. I blew the whistle, and shortly after a Pegasus appeared, shrouded in blue flames.
"Wait. What happened to Blaze?" I asked.
"Blaze can't hear his call while you are in this simulation. So Harold told me where to find Blaze's fake copy. This is him." James explained.
"Oh, ok." I said, somewhat disappointed.
I climbed onto its back and it broke through the wall, James right behind him, and flew upwards until it got out of the alley. Then James took the lead and flew towards a burning horizon.
"Hey, what's that?" I asked.
"That's the fire I started to cause an easier escape point, at first the escape point was barely big enough for a mouse, now it's big enough for a giant. The reason we have to hurry, well we can't let the fire reach the escape route before we do." James explained.
"Oh, wow." I said in response.
I spurred this Blaze to fly faster when James sped up and we reached the escape point just as the fire did.
"Sarah, jump to me, don't drag him down into that fire." James said.
"Okay, but you better catch me." I said.
"I always would, but if it makes you feel a little safer, if you die in the simulation, we still have a chance to save you, unlike the real world." James said.
After that I jumped. Apparently I was alot higher above James than I had thought, because it took a bit longer than expected and for a second I thought he missed me and I was falling to my death. Then, he was there cradling me into his arms, which felt a lot stronger than before, and flew down to the exit point.
"Harold, open the exit point" James said.
"Oh, yeah, forgot to ask earlier but who's Harold?" I asked.
"Harold is a friend, and great magic teacher, that I met in the institute.", James explained, "Harold? Is it open?"
"Yes, hurry Leon's men are here and about to break in." A voice boomed throughout the simulation.
"We are headed through now. Come on, Sarah, hurry." James ordered.
I jumped through what he called the exit point and saw a good sized lab with many metal tables, one of which James was waking up on.
"Thank god we're out of there." I said.
"No kidding." James responded.
"Hate to break the mood here, but we have bigger problems." A guy standing a few feet away said.
Something on the other side of the door roared and then the steel door busted inward with a screech and a boom when it hit the floor.
"So, you thought you could break into my lab, get your girlfriend, and walk out no trouble? Sorry to burst your bubble, but that can't be allowed, especially when you will stand against me and everything I plan to do. Your brother is so much more fun than you, he actually likes what I am planning to do." Leon stated as he walked in, a gigantic figure behind him.
"Actually, dad, we planned for a situation like this." James said.
He clapped his hands together and a portal appeared, which he promptly shoved me through.
