We said our goodbyes, leaving our son, Jake, in Atlantis, and teleported to New York to start taking back the cities that Leon took over. We regretted that decision the instant we arrived.
"Freeze! Put down all weapons and other magical artifacts now!" A scared looking police officer yelled.
"Officer what have we done wrong? You know other than just randomly teleporting into the center of New York square" I said, pausing as I looked around us, "which is entirely empty."
"Officer, if I may ask, Why is bustling New York utterly empty, and seemingly extraordinarily quiet?" James asked.
"Shut it! I am not allowed to answer any of your stupid questions! Leon has ordered that the two of you are to be found and brought to him for public execution." The police officer ordered.
He brought us to a car that was a few feet away from where we teleported in at and threw us into the back. We drove for what seemed and probably was hours, although we ended up at the White House, which is almost a two day drive. Once we arrived we were led to the Oval Office, where the officer said Leon was.
"So, you hid in Atlantis for the past three years to avoid our father and I's wrath, have you?" A young man said from the turned chair behind the desk.
"We may have, but who cares whether we did or not? It's not like Leon ever had my interests at heart, or even yours, Dakota." James said.
"You will address him as either father, dad, or overlord, or I will personally kill you, especially since our father can't. Now, come here dearest brother, have a seat, and meet, your other brother, Icarus, he was named that due to his being like you, with his wings and other attributes." Dakota said.
"What?! I have another brother, is he exactly like me? Or parts of you and me?" James asked.
"I am neither, I don't even have the same wings as you, yours are white and brown, mine are pitch black. I do not like being compared to either of you, so, stop. Now, the only thing I have in common with the two of you, is that I look exactly like the both of you. We are triplets, as you can see now." Icarus said.
"Wait, but that's not possible, I've seen the birth certificate, I don't have another brother, you are a clone, you have all of my abilities and you look exactly like me because you are me, but the cloning process must've gone wrong somewhere because you don't have the same color of wings as me. Why would he make a clone of me.... Ah ha! He made a clone of me because I am the most powerful twin, and I refused to work with him, Merlin mentioned something like this earlier, remember, Sarah?" I said.
"Yeah, I remember, he didn't mention the part about the clone, but he did mention the part about you being more powerful, but he also said you were nowhere near ready to face either Leon or Dakota, but that was also three years ago." Sarah responded.
"What? I'm a clone? Dakota, why did you say nothing about this?" Icarus asked.
"I didn't say anything because it didn't matter. But this moron seems to think that it does matter, don't worry, you won't have to worry about him very much longer. Guards! Take James to my, or rather, our father." Dakota ordered.
"What about Sarah?" Icarus asked.
"She will be staying here to get better acquainted with her future husband." Dakota said.
"Who's that?" I asked.
"Why, Icarus, of course, he is the spitting image and perfect replica of James, the only differences are that James has white and brown wings and won't work for Leon, and Icarus has black wings and will work for Leon." Dakota said.
"No! You can't make her! I won't let you get away with this!" James yelled, as the guards dragged him off to whatever torture they had planned for him.
"James, just do as they say and you might live long enough to escape and save me, do this for me, if not for yourself." I said.
James's head dropped, as if he had resigned to his fate and he let the guards take him away.
"Now, on to the actual business here." Dakota started, "Sarah, I'm sure you know how marriages work in the magic community, don't you?"
"What?! Don't you think its to early to get us married? We just met after all, we need time to get to know each other." I retorted.
"No, he is exactly like James, you know everything about him already." Dakota said.
"That may be true for me, but he knows nothing about me. He should be allowed the privilege to know me as I know him. Right, Icarus?" I asked. "Yeah, I should be allowed to get to know her before we are betrothed." Icarus agreed. "Fine, then! You two can learn everything about each other and I will be back in one hour, you will be married then!" Dakota said, angrily and stormed out.
"So, tell me about yourself." Icarus ordered.
"No, that was a ploy, I was trying to buy myself some time before I was married to you, because as a clone you can't survive without your true love, and I am not yours. You have feelings of your own, not the same feelings as James, if you marry me, you will die, the magic will tear you and your soul apart, you can escape, I have to stay and try to save James, goodbye, Icarus." I said.
After I finished speaking Icarus looked hopeful and happy for the first time since being introduced to James and I. Icarus smashed through the window behind the desk and flew off to find his true love and be able to live his life out as a normal magician and hopefully he would do it in enough time and not disintegrate before he could. Dakota returned in the time that he said he would and started to burn with anger at Icarus's disappearance.
"Where is Icarus?!" Dakota yelled.
"He's not here obviously." I said, trying to hide the shattered window.
"Don't worry Sarah, we'll find him for you. " Dakota said with a devious grin.
"Good luck, you moron, Icarus is long gone, he went in search of his actual true love. I told him what the magic would end up doing to him, granted, when the magic tore him apart it would also kill everyone within 50 miles of his location, but I decided to leave that part out." I said.
"What?! How did you know about that, only the evil side of magic knows that about clones!" Dakota said in shock.
"I know that because even though I am on the good side of magic, I study all types of magic to better learn how to defend myself against those types of magics. That is precisely why your magic cuffs and mind control spells haven't worked on me once." I said, as I sprang at Dakota wrapping my hands around his neck and saying a spell of strength at the same time.
Little did I know that he had prepared for that attack.
When I found out, it was far too late.... "That'll teach you, you moronic little girl, although, I highly doubt it."
