I woke up the next morning to strange scents floating up from the first floor, not good scents, mind you, but scents indeed. I walked downstairs and saw something that will be burned to the backs of my eyelids forever. Blood was everywhere bodies torn to shreds and body parts across the room from the bodies from which they came. Then the moaning started, awful sounds that no normal living creature should be able to make. The moans steadily grew louder and each one chilled me to the bone, I looked around for the source but couldn't find one so I went down the stairs and was immediately assaulted by the source of the stench. The man looked like he had gone through a car wreck, a cannibal camp, and then fell into a meat grinder. His eyes were the color of sour milk and he was trying to bite my throat. Then the man just fell down its head falling off its shoulders, all of the light in the room went out and I wasn't alone.
"Get up, Sarah, we need to find Dakota, Casser, and George before they get infected." The voice, which was very familiar, said.
"Why? What's going on?" I asked.
"I will explain everything soon enough, but for now no more questions. Stick close and make as little noise as possible." He said.
"Ok." I responded.
"Wait, do you have a controlled flying beast of any sort?" He asked.
"Yeah, I have two dragons but they will only let three people ride them, Casser, My-my ex-boyfriend and myself." I informed the man.
"Really? Why's that?" He asked.
"Not sure, we could never figure that out, but you're welcome to try to ride Viserion, he's gentler than Aurora. He's still deadly and he knows it but he's a lot calmer since his master's death, less ready of thinking that he'll be stolen." I said.
"Ah I see, show me to Viserion." He said.
"Alright, right down that hallway there. The hallway will lead you to a large room in which Viserion is sleeping, good luck." I said.
The man walked down the hall and entered Viserion's chamber. I, then, went to the right, opposite of the direction in which the strange man went, and walked down that hall to Aurora's chamber. "Hey, beautiful. Ready to fly?" I asked.
Aurora roared in approval and flapped her wings excitedly.
"Well then, girl, let me on and we'll go." I said.
Aurora calmed down and let me onto her back and then soared out of the room through the wall that wasn't actually there. After soaring up I saw Viserion waiting there with the strange man on his back.
"Congrats, I never thought that it would be possible for someone to ever ride Viserion again." I said.
"It wasn't all that hard actually, he's quite calm, you know." The man said.
"He hasn't been since James died, but I'm glad he finally found a friend. By the way do you ever plan on telling me your name?" I asked.
"Nope, its not important right now, we need to find Dakota and Casser right away. Do you know where they live?" The man asked.
"Yes, they live in Las Vegas, I'll take you there, come on." I said.
Nothing was said after that until we reached Las Vegas when I had a sudden realization.
"How did you know where to find me?" I asked suspiciously.
"Uh.... um..... Well you see, I, uh, ok. To tell you the truth, I never died." The man said, swiping his hand across his face.
When he swiped across his face I realized I knew exactly who he was and that he had been hiding his identity from me the whole time.
"James! Oh my god you're alive! I can't believe it, why didn't you tell me before?" I asked, freaking out and jumping at him for a hug.
"I didn't tell you mainly because we're on a time-limit here, we have to get to Dakota immediately or the world could end, and quicker than you think too." James said hugging me back.
"Why? What's going on? Is it really that bad that we can't handle it on our own?" I asked.
"Yes, and you can't imagine the extent of it all without seeing it for yourself, which you already have but you don't realize it yet." James said.
"Well, come on then. We have to walk a little bit." I said, leading him to the less quiet parts of town.
We walked for half an hour before reaching Dakota's inherited mansion (which he inherited from his father). James rang the doorbell and the doors flew open a second later, James locked in an embrace that was neither warm or friendly.
"Well, I see you've heard of the recent epidemic." James said cautiously but antagonizingly.
"James!" Dakota yelled in shock.
"Shut up, brother and get this sword away from my throat, you don't want to be waking the legions of the dead do you?" James said, warningly.
"No, I suppose not. Hurry, get in. We have much to talk about." Dakota said.
We walked into the mansion and I was immediately shocked by how amazingly large it was on the inside, it was easily twice the size as the outside of the house and very lavishly decorated.
"Dakota? How many this time?" Casser called from deep inside the house.
"None, just a couple of good friends." Dakota called back.
Casser came jogging from a hallway that appeared out of nowhere and stopped dead in her tracks.
"But-but you're dead." Casser stuttered.
"You'd think so, huh? The monastery collapsed but I had time to spot a sewer door and drop into it before the roof crushed me. That's how I escaped, and then worked my way back here to see Sarah again and found out what was happening here." James asked.
"I'm not sure but we need to fill Sarah in and fast." Dakota said.
"Right, ok, Sarah? This is going to seem crazy and you aren't going to want to believe me, espescially since I just recently got back to you after you thought I was dead. Are you ready?" James asked me.
"Of course, I can handle it." I said, confidently.
Little did I realize that what James told me next would change everything.
