As soon as the gates were released, Todoroki jumped into action. He froze the entire floor and slid ahead of everyone with obvious practice and comfort on the ice. Bakugo blasted through the air with his explosions, Sero slung his tape and swung from it like spiderman. Mina used her acid to burn the ice and slide across it, and Momo created a pole that she used to propel herself into the air with a big leap to get ahead of the crowd.

Many of the contestants scrambled on the ice, obviously having a hard time managing. There was a lot of slipping and shoving and falling and sliding.

Surprisingly, Mineta came up with a strategy - he began to throw his balls onto the ice and use them as stepping stones to move forward. He took a great big leap in the air, and was about to throw a ball onto Todoroki's back. "AHAHAHAHA!" Mineta giggled. "I've done it! I've outwitted you, Todoroki! How path-" Mineta never got to finish his sentence. A giant robot arm slammed into him, knocking Mineta out of the air.

A fleet of giant robots, almost as big as the zero pointers from the Entrance Exams stood before the contestants. Many students scrambled back in fear and shock. A shadow crossed Todoroki's face, and his right arm glittered with frostbite and icy mist. Todoroki leaned back, twisting his body like he was about to swing a baseball bat, and swung his right arm hard, cutting through the air and launching a gigantic ice glacier at one of the robots, freezing it in ice.

Todoroki then created an ice bridge and slid along it as he formed the ice in front of him, gliding through the air. Todoroki passed through the fleet of robots, and some students tried to take advantage of Todoroki's ice to run through the legs of the frozen robot, but they didn't realize it was unstable.

Bakugo blasted the robot with a large explosion before anyone could get buried beneath it, and blasted his way through the air, haphazardly throwing explosions around him, confusing the robot's sensors and passing through.

Todoroki glanced behind him, and only saw Bakugo blasting his way towards him, catching up quickly. 'Midoriya's not anywhere to be seen... I guess he wasn't as powerful as I thought. Still, I hope he's okay...' Todoroki thought to himself, speeding up.

They arrived a large canyon, but Todoroki just slid over it on his ice bridge in air. Bakugo blasted across it with ease, and some random pink haired girl with a bunch of crazy gadgets jumped straight into it but somehow ended up perfectly fine...

Finally, they were nearing the final obstacle: a minefield. Izuku was no where to be seen, which was unusual, but Todoroki and Bakugo didn't have time to question it. For Todoroki, he simply glided over it like he was doing the whole race, and Bakugo blasted over it again. Many people stopped and had to tread very carefully, but many people were getting blown away by accidentally detonating a mine.

Todoroki raced on, Bakugo close behind him. The finish line was near - Todoroki was so close to getting first place in the first event, with only his ice. That would show his father...

"DAMN HALF N' HALF BASTAARRRDD!!!" Bakugo screamed in rage, propelling himself further ahead with his explosions. Because he had worked up a sweat, his palms were covered in it, which made his explosions more powerful.

Todoroki tried hard to glide quicker, and succeeded slightly, but Bakugo was gaining on him. The tunnel to the end was so close... Todoroki was going to make it before Bakugo!

Suddenly, just as Todoroki was only 10 feet away from the finish line, a cat jumped out of his uniform. Todoroki's heart almost stopped when he saw that house cat glance back at him with those knowing green eyes. "It can't be..." Todoroki gasped, and Bakugo's eyes widened in shock and rage. "DAMN DEKUUU!!!" Bakugo shouted as the cat shifted into a large cheetah and darted forward, running across the finish line.
