Izuku was about to talk to the prep room to prepare for his fight with Shinsou when a hand grabbed his shoulder. "We need to talk." Todoroki said to him, and pulled Izuku away from the crowd into a secluded corner.
"What was that about, Todoroki?" Izuku asked, confused as to why Todoroki wanted to speak with him. Todoroki had a very serious expression on his face.
"Midoriya." Todoroki said, ignoring Izuku's question. "Are you... the secret love child of Aizawa?"
"... WHAT!? N-no, he's just a dad figure! He-he's not my real d-dad!" Izuku stuttered frantically.
Todoroki looked skeptical, and maybe slightly disappointed that his theory was off.
"Midoriya, do you know what a quirk marriage is?" Todoroki asked, ignoring Izuku's flustered state. Izuku suddenly turned serious, and his eyes narrowed. "Yes..." He responded.
Todoroki sighed. "I was born out of a quirk marriage, between Endeavor and my mother. Endeavor wanted to create the perfect being to surpass All Might as an extension of himself, because he was obsessed with surpassing All Might and realized he himself couldn't achieve that goal. So after many tries, he had me. The perfect creation, with a powerful dual quirk he sought to create with my mother's ice and his flames." Todoroki continued.
"My so-called 'father' trained me harshly every day, which was basically just him beating me. My mother suffered psychological trauma, and one day, I overheard her on the phone while she was boiling water. She said to the person on the other line that she couldn't stand my left side sometimes, because it was exactly like his... she said this right before she poured boiling water over the side of my face."
"My father sent her away to a mental hospital, furious that she harmed his 'creation'. I've never seen her since... but maybe that's just because I've been too cowardly to face her..." Todoroki looked up at Izuku with determined eyes, with a burning hatred behind them. He clutched the left side of his face.
"My left side is unsightly. She told me that, and I understand."

Todoroki brought his hand off of his face, and stared at it before clenching it into a tight fist.
"I will defeat you, and win the Sports Festival, all without using hispower." Todoroki finished, and began to walk away.
"...Todoroki." Izuku called out, stopping Todoroki. "You aren't the only one who's had a tough childhood. A tough life. And that's why I can say that I'm not going to go down so easily." Izuku's eyes blazed with passion and determination. "So if I'm gonna give it my all, then you'd better try your hardest, your 100%, too!"
