Ch. 30

| Luke's pov |

Prom night;

Michael and I pull up into the parking lot and seeing everyone smile and the mainstream music makes me want to puke. I get out the car and walk inside the school. I go to the gym quickly looking for Noreen. Maybe once I spot Calum I can find her. Michael stands behind me and we stop in the middle of the gym as my eyes search everywhere.

"There..." Michael says pointing ahead of me.

I look up and my eyes meet hers. Noreen looks so beautiful but not too happy. I don't want to be here, but it was for her. I walk towards her with slow steps then before I know it I'm holding her hand. My heart is beating fast and my mind is racing. What do I do? What should I do? What should I say?

"Hi," Noreen says softly.

"Hey," I reply.

"So, wanna a drink?"

I nod slowly and we walk over to the table where the drinks are. I pour one for her then one for me. We drink in silence except for the music but once I throw my cup out Noreen takes my hand. She gets closer and looks me in the eyes.

"Luke, we decided to leave everything behind for tonight, so can you at least act like you love me?" She says.

I sigh, and pull her in close. She's right, I promised. I put my hands on her waist as 'End Of All Things' by Panic! At The Disco comes on. She lays her head on my shoulder as we dance and I hold her closer letting her body press against mine. I lean by her ear about to say something but all I do is sigh, I'm lost at words.

"Noreen, I'm sorry for everything, you deserve so much better..." I say.

Noreen puts her finger to my lips and shushes me.

"It's okay Luke...I want this to be about you and I...nothing else," she says.

I nod and just dance with her slowly. We're the only ones on the dance floor and I close my eyes so I don't see the people staring at us. I feel Noreen's hand squeeze my shoulder and it becomes slightly wet; she's crying. I rub her back then lift up her chin to look at her.

"I love you, and I want to make sure you never think that I don't," I say to her.

She nods and kisses me. I kiss her back quickly as its been so long. I feel like I'm in love again. I cup her cheeks in my hands to press her lips harder against mine. It feels like a breath of life from this death I've been trapped in, and I can't stop but I pull away anyway.

"Let's get out of here..." Noreen whispers to me.

I nod in agreement and take her hand as I lead her out of the gym. Noreen holds my hand tightly as we walk out the school and I see her smile as the light of the moon shines on her face. We walk swinging our hands back and forth and I smile for the first time in weeks. We don't talk much as we walk and soon we arrive at my house. I take her upstairs into my room and she sits on my bed.

"I missed you," she says softly.

She looks up at me as she runs her hand over my sheets. I don't reply, I'm not quite sure if I missed her or if I was happy that I no longer had to hurt her. I sit next to her and she caresses my face. We look into each other's eyes for a long time, I want to ask her so many questions, but right now is only about her and I; nothing else. I take her hand as I get closer. I kiss her slowly and she puts her hands on my neck. She runs her fingers through my hair as I put my hands on her waist. Her touch is soft as she takes off my jacket and as I open my mouth wider to deepen the kiss. She wants me to make love to her, I can feel it in her kiss, her touch, everything. I take in a deep breath.
