| Luke's pov |
I wake up to silence and I lift up my head. Noreen's eyes are still shut, but she has to wake up. I rub my eyes and put my head back down, only if I could sleep all day. I nudge Noreen and she groans.
"Get up," I slur yawning.
"Just five more minutes..." she says softly.
"Five will turn into ten, get up," I say.
"No..." she complains and pulls the covers over her a little bit more.
"I'll push you," I chuckle softly.
"You wouldn't,"
I jerk forward and Noreen flinches. I start laughing and sit up.
"Luke! That wasn't funny," then she gets up.
She sits on the side of the bed and stretches out her arms as she yawns. She stands up and looks at me with her bottom lip sticking out, but I only laugh.
"If you push me out of bed I will hurt you," she scolds.
She walks into the bathroom and I laugh softly to myself. I get up myself and go into the bathroom out in the hallway. I look into the mirror and the familiar blue is back in my eyes. The thing that I worry about is that he can come back any moment. I'm afraid that I can lose control any second. That I can hurt Noreen when I don't want to.
I quickly get ready for school to forget and head downstairs. I make a quick breakfast; just toast and bacon and wait for Noreen as she takes her precious time, but it won't last too long because we have to leave soon. I sit at the table alone and the bacon gets cold, oh well. I eat it anyway, and Noreen finally comes downstairs.
"It's cold now and we got to go," I say.
"But I just came downstairs," she complains.
"You put the bacon in the toast, grab your book bag and walk outside," I say.
She grunts but does as I say. She eats the food quickly and grabs my hand as the bus comes.
***
We arrive at school and we walk to History together. I dread going because Ashton's in my class and after that phone call, we aren't on good terms. I walk inside with Noreen following me and we sit at the opposite side of the room, away from Ashton.
"This is all very childish," Noreen says softly.
"They left me. I have a right to be mad. He just doesn't understand that I didn't mean what I said," I reply.
"Then tell him, you told me you were sorry, and look at us now,"
I sigh, my relationship with her is more than it should be, but it's what I always wanted. I get up and sit next to Ashton. He sighs and crosses his arms.
"I believe you. That you didn't know how I felt until Noreen told you and I'm sorry for insulting you like that. You know you're my friend Ash, and I just hope you know that," I say.
"I know, and I'm sorry too, but do you realise what being with her will do to you?" Ashton replies.
"It's a risk, but a risk I need," I answer. "She might make me go crazy, but I need her."
"It's hard for me to understand what you're feeling,"
"It is for everyone, except her,"
Ashton doesn't say anything else and I sit by Noreen again. She doesn't ask questions as class starts.
Ashton is the only one that bothers to talk to me today, because when I see Calum and Michael in the hall they don't even look at me and keep walking. I continue walking then I hear someone say my name.
