After school I get in Michael's car, I simply forgot that I told them that I would tell them about my nightmares. I'm starting to re-think it. Ashton and Calum join and I look out the window and I see Tracy. Half of me wants to get out and ask what's wrong with her, but the other half knows that I should stay in the car.
I put my hands on my legs and turn away. I need to stay in the car but out of the corner of my eye I see her staring at me and I can't stay inside anymore. I open the door and walk out. I hear Michael call my name, but I ignore it. Tracy stares at me dead on, but then I stop walking. She turns around and talks to Noreen. Before I could move one more step, they already got in a car.
I turn around and shake my head. What was I gonna say anyway when I approached her?
Michael rolls down his window as I come near the car."I think I'm going to walk home, you guys can come over later." I say.
"Alright, around five." Michael replies.
I nod and I start walking. I know the places I past, including the place where she died. I want to stop thinking about it, but sometimes I can't help but go past here. I stop once I make it to McCulloch St.
I glance at the cars driving by, then I lay my eyes exactly where it happened. A quick flash of the crash goes through my mind and I shake my head. Only way to get rid of your fears is to control them, not to let them control you.
I continue to walk, and walk quickly past the street. I feel something lurking behind me and my heart beats faster. My pace gets faster, but I don't look behind me. Keep going Luke, keep going. I feel as if someone is going to grab me, but once I turn around I see nothing. I breathe in deeply then exhale. I stand there, not moving an inch, staring at nothing. It's something, I know it.
I start walking backwards, then forward again. After a long walk, I arrive home. I lock the door once I get inside and run up to my room. I kick off my shoes and sit on my bed. Calm down, you're fine; no one is following you. I lay down and murmur to myself, "Its okay,"
My breathing becomes steady and I look at the time. Four o'clock.
I take out my phone and text Calum."What's Noreen's number?"
He doesn't reply quickly, but I know he has it. He talks all the time about how he knows her and how I'm stupid for not believing him.
He texts back with Noreen's contact information and I call her. One ring, two, and three...
"Hello?" I hear her sniffle, "Who is this?"
"It's Luke." I answer.
There's a hesitation with the reply. I hear her breathing become heavier, and footsteps.
"Wh-wh-what do you want?" She asks.
"You're not okay, why did you just walk away, we could've talked, you know."
"Because...because Tracy, but I'm alone now. I'm sorry Luke."
Tracy? What would stop Noreen talking to me because of her?
"Listen, I heard the conversation, you need to talk someone who will acknowledge that you need someone."
"No, I don't need anyone."
I sigh, I can hear the desperation in her voice. She needs someone badly.
"You do, a hug, some comfort...Noreen please, don't be afraid to talk to me, I'm here." I say.
She doesn't say anything back, in fact, I hear the beeping of the phone, meaning she hung up.
I swear and put my phone down. Maybe I'm not the type of person to comfort someone. I know its Tracy influencing her mind with terrible things about me. After today, Noreen may not talk to me, so why even try.
I glance over at my phone, I want to re-dial, maybe even go to her house, but that would seem a little stalkerish.
I spend around the next hour thinking about it, but then I hear my doorbell ring. I get the door and its Michael, Ashton, and Calum. They come inside and gather in my living room.
