Noreen's pov;

June 15th;

Today is Ashton's graduation, hopefully my trial will be over before it starts. After everything that happened the least I can do is watch him graduate. Currently it's eleven am. My father hasn't arrived yet, and neither has Luke. Only Calum and Michael have. Calum sits next to me and holds my hand. I squeeze it almost six times every minute, I’m too nervous. I bite the inside of my lip and soon I feel my gum break allowing blood to flow through-out my mouth. I bite my lip instead and Calum takes me out the court room as I begin to shake. We go into the bathroom and he locks the door. He holds me by both of my shoulders and just stares at me.

“I need you to calm down…get a grip, breathe in and out slowly…” he tells me.

I nod but it’s too hard, I can barely breathe. He holds me close and tears well up in my eyes. I have to get through today, I have to win this case, and I have to get away from my father once and for all. I just wish that I didn’t have to go through everything I did, but nothing is easy and nothing will ever be. I just have to stay strong but as I look down at my hands it’s hard to think that I can be strong. I can’t only feel my hands shaking, I see the vibration in them and it won’t stop. I rest my head on Calum’s shoulder and he rubs my back softly as he hums in my ear.

“It’s going to be alright sweetheart…it’s going to be over soon, I can feel it…” he whispers.

I hope Calum is right, I pray he is right, because all I want is to be free. To finally have the life I always wanted. I hold him tighter and don’t let go for a long time. I want to leave but I know winning this case will be the start to my freedom. I sniffle then wipe some of my tears. Calum kisses my cheek softly then we walk out the bathroom. I hold his hand and when we walk back into the court I see my father. Calum puts his arm around me and pulls me in for a side hug. He rubs my shoulder and we slowly sit back down. Michael glances over at me and holds my other hand. I look at my knees and try not to look at my father but it gets hard, somehow I can feel him staring at me. I bite my lip again, I wish Luke was here, but from the look of it, I know he’s not coming.

“We will start this trial, Mr. Oliver you may make your statement,” the judge says.

Richard nods and his lawyer stands up. He clears his throat and stands in front of everyone in the courtroom. My heart begins to pound loudly and I wish that I could leave. I don’t want to be here and I have the mind to scream and run away. But I stay in my seat listening to the words everyone says. They all sound like mumbling and whispers, and I can’t take it anymore.

“Noreen Oliver make your statement…” The judge says.

I look up with my eyes widened. I didn’t even know the man was finished. My lawyer stands up and makes our statement. The court is silent for a little while after that then they call Richard to the stand. I rest my head on Calum’s shoulder and close my eyes so I don’t have to look at Richard. So I don’t have to see the hatred his has for me.

“Mr. Oliver, please describe what happened May 5th?” His lawyer asks him.

Calum holds me closer and I put my head in the crook of his neck.

“I woke up and realised my daughter wasn’t home. She has been gone for a few months actually, going from place to place. Sometimes she would be at one guy’s house then she would be at another’s. So that morning I decided I wanted her to come home, so I went to Luke Hemmings’ house, which is one of the boys she screws around with and I found them in his bed naked. To my guess they had slept together the night before. I took her home and she was furious, she was yelling, going crazy. And that’s when she took the knife and stabbed me. I had to chase her out of the house…” he says.
