"Oh shit..."
Nerris nodded, "And they know I'll be here. Meaning we need to find something that'll bring him back, and quick."
She tossed her phone, and went to scroll through the pages of the book. Most of it was about how to contact spirits. There was only two pages on how to bring someone back, the rest after that was talking about the dangers and what could happen.
Conveniently, some of it was about the demon realm, also known as the shadow realm. Preston laughed a little whenever he saw the name, "Poor Shadow couldn't even think of a creative name for himself."
Nerris chuckled, "Right. Now we somehow need to get over to Harrison." She bookmarked a page. Her friend nodded, "Although if they called the cops, he could already be gone from your house."
That was true. They were most likely going to take the body to an autopsy.
"We'll sneak back into my room and see. It said something about just being in the place of death, and thinking about who it is, it would work just as well." Nerris explained, picking up the book.
They quickly snuck out of Preston's room, and ran back to the place of death.
The area was filled with cop cars. "Crap..." Nerris mumbled. They wouldn't be able to get in at this rate. Preston decided to use his theatrics to distract the cops. He ran out to them telling them, "She tried to kill me! I managed to lock her in at my house, follow me!"
Sure enough, most of the cops drove away, following Preston. Nerris snuck around to her back door, carefully peeking into a window. There were no signs of Harrison. His parents were playing out a sob story about how Nerris got close to him, just to kill him.
Which, is she had anything to say about it, it wasn't true. "Yes ma'am, we're going to have to ask you two to come with us for further investigation on the murder." One of the detectives asked. The parents nodded, "Sure. We just want to bring her to justice."
Nerris rolled her eyes, and once everyone was out of her house, she opened the door.
"It seems like you've gotten yourself in a sticky situation, just to help my brother."
Nerris yelped and looked behind her, "Oliver? What're you doing here?"
He shrugged, "My parents got called over here, but they told me to stay in the car. What exactly is going on?" The poor kid didn't know that his brother had died, he just knew somehow that Nerris was there to help.
Nerris toom a deep breath, "You know now Harrison told you about his demon? Shadow.....Shadow killed him. I'm going to bring him back."
Oliver's eyes widened, "It killed him...? Please let me help you." He kind of shocked the girl. Why would he want to deal with magic if it caused him distress?
It was Harrison's brother, he had the right to help, "Fine. But don't read anything out of this book unless I tell you so, okay?" Oliver nodded, "I swear I won't."
Nerris smiled at him, "Good, Preston should be back soon, and we can start." They walked into the house, and Oliver stopped whenever he saw the pool of blood, where Harrison had died.
The Elfkin looked back at the younger boy, "Are you okay?"
He nodded, "I-I'm fine..."
Preston ran through the back door, and closed it, out of breath, "Wow, I didn't realize how out of shape I am...Wait why is his brother here?"
"I wanted to help get Harri back.." Oliver said shyly.
Preston nodded, "Okay, lets get this done and get our friend back."
