They quickly made it to a small hut, almost identical to Myrddin's shop in the overworld.
Shadow knocked on the door, and walked in, "Master, I'm home! And I've brought a few people you might want to see."
The old woman walked out of her room, she looked the exact same. She hadn't changed into a demon form. Her eyes looked to the kids, "Oh, they are alive. And those two..." She pointed at Nerris and Preston, "I sold them a book. Which they must've clearly misused. Tell me, how'd you get down here?"
Preston gulped, "Once we got Harrison back, his mother took the book and sent us here..."
Myrddin looked at them sternly, "Now what was the one thing I told you not to do with that book?"
Nerris and Preston answered at the same time, "Let it into the wrong hands..."
"And what did you do?"
"Let it into the wrong hands..."
Myrddin nodded, "Now, sit down. If we don't get you out of here fast, these demons are most likely going to try kill you. You ask yourselves, 'How would they kill us when we're basically already in hell?'. If you die here, you will be sent to hell, which is much worse than this place."
They all sat down at the small table.
Harrison looked at the woman, "People keep mentioning how we're alive. Is everyone else here dead?"
Shadow shook his head, "Not quite. We're more or less immortal, but most consider themselves dead, since they never leave this place. They'd want you dead since you're showing them what it would be like up there. It took a long while for them to warm up to Myrddin."
The older lady nodded, "They almost killed me. But this bonehead over here wouldn't let them."
Shadow chuckled, "Don't tell them that the demon that hurt them has a heart."
Harrison rolled his eyes, "Surprising."
"Look, Harrison, I do not in the slightest regret what I did. If I had another opportunity, I would've done things differently. I got to get an idea of what our ancestors went through. It was one of the best experiences of my life." Shadow explained.
Preston scoffed, "You enjoyed torturing teenagers?"
He nodded.
Nerris rolled her eyes as well, "You succeeded to ruin our lives within a matter of about three days. There is a lid at school that's dead because of you! And what would they do if we told them a demon possessed Harrison and made him do it? They would never believe it."
Shadow shrugged, "Not my problem. The only thing I'm concerned about right now is getting you out of the shadow realm."
Myrddin nodded, "Yes. As pretty as this place may be, it is very dangerous, and there can be some very dangerous demons. Meaning you can't go off by yourselves. None of you know how to control your powers."
The kids all nodded.
Shadow sighed, "I have my own home away from here. You all can stay there."
Oliver eyed him suspiciously, "Why haven't you tried to kill us yet? Could it be that you possibly care for us? Even a little?"
He acted shocked, "Me? Care for the children I tried to ruin? Definitely not!"
"Then why haven't you killed us?" Nerris joined in.
"Because I'm not as powerful in this realm as I am up there!"
Everyone went silent.
Myrddin sighed, "I will lead you children to where you'll stay so Kage can rest. Come along now." She stood up and walked out of the hut, expecting the others to follow.
The complied, but Preston spoke up, "Kage? I thought his name was Shadow?"
She nodded, "Shadow is what his name means. Kage was his givin name by his old master, and he didn't want to remember her in any way. So he went by his nickname."
"That makes sense. Tell me, Myrddin, does Shadow-er, Kage regret what he's done? He acts as if though he does, but he says that he'd do it again." Nerris said.
Myrddin thought for a second, "First off, call him Kage. It gives a once hurtful name power, he'll one day use it against his old master. Anyways, I do believe he has some remorse about what he has done. He wants to show you that he'd do it again to scare you."
They entered a small shack, similar to Myrddin's. It was open, with about 5 beds. "The master that built this place had many apprentices, but it was abandoned years ago. Kage took it upon himself to claim it." The older woman explained.
Everyone chose their area. Nerris opened a closet to find clean pairs of clothes, but they were dull, as everyone else's garments were. There was a small kitchen and a bathroom, stocked with the daily essentials.
"Thank you, Myrddin," Oliver said, "We really appreciate it. I'm going to guess the time is sort of different here?"
She nodded, "Yes. We have no day or night. Everyone goes to bed whenever they prefer to. Since all of us here have been in the overworld, we'd get tired close to when we normally would up there. Therefore, it is about 8 P.M.. I will be off to bed fairly quickly, I suggest you all do the same. I will be here by the time you wake up. Lock the door, don't go outside. Rest well."
And with that, Myrddin walked out of the door.
Nerris rolled onto her bed and sighed, "How are we supposed to sleep whenever we've been transported to a demon realm?"
Harrison laid down as well, "I'm not sure. But we'll get out of here, we have to."
Oliver had already crawled under his covers and fallen asleep, Preston had done the same.
Nerris sighed, "Well, goodnight Harrison."
"Night, Nerris."
