"We'll have to make them believe us then."

"And how do you suppose we do that?" Nerris asked. Harrison thought about that for a moment. "I could...I could get Shadow to come out. He wouldn't exactly play nice, so we'd have to take some precautions..." He explained.

"Are you crazy!? He literally almost killed the both of us!" Nerris yelled, unfazed by the fact that her parents were in the room next to them. "I know, I know. Hear me out. That's the only way we'll get them to believe us." He said calmly, "I don't like the idea more than you do. But it's our only chance."

She thought about it. Shadow was part of Harrison. So, if they restrained Harrison and the demon came out, he couldn't do anything. "They might think it's staged... But it's worth a shot." She concluded.

I won't be persuaded so easily... Shadow echoed in Harrison's brain. "Well you don't have to a choice." He responded. Nerris seemed to get what was happening, so she didn't say anything.

Remember, I'm stronger than you in every way. Mentally and physically. Don't think I can't snap your neck in an instant. The demon retorted.

Harrison growled, "Listen here, Shadow. My parents brought summoned you, they can easily kick you out!" Think again, kid. They signed a binding contract. I'm never leaving. Shadow said with a laugh.

"I am not in the mood to argue right now! You're are going to help us! It's the least you could do to make up for almost killing my girlfriend." He yelled. Nerris looked at him in surprise, and a light blush crept onto her cheeks.

You're lucky that I have a little bit of emotion. I'll help you, but I'm not promising to play nice. I already have to deal with you for the rest of my life. And I'm immortal. Shadow said sassily.

"Fine. Thanks," Harrison looked at Nerris, "He agreed." She smiled. "Good. Although, the way you were yelling, he isn't happy about it."

They explained what they were going to do when Nerris' parents came out.

Just know that I hate the both of you.. Shadow murmured. "Then why did you agree to help us?" Harrison retorted. The demon stayed quiet. "Uh huh, that's what I thought." They went back downstairs to get everything ready. They got a chair and some rope. Shadow said he wasn't going to play nice, so they had to be prepared for anything.

Nerris' parents heard the rustling downstairs. "Should we go and see what they're doing?" Hilary asked her husband. "Yeah," Dawson started, then whispered under his breath, "just to make sure that boy isn't phsycologically torturing out daughter..."

They walked down stairs, "Nerris, honey, what're you doing?" Her mother asked. Harrison was currently tied to a chair. "Oh, we're proving to you that we're not crazy." Nerris said simply.

"Sir, ma'am, I know what you're thinking. I swear, I didn't do anything to harm your daughter." Harrison said, reassuring them.

Someone knocked on the door. Nerris quickly ran over, knowing who it was.

"Hey, Preston."

"Hello there! During your phone call you said it was about Harrison. I couldn't leave you here with the demon all by yourself." He said dramatically.

Nerris' dad rolled his eyes. But, her mom spoke. "Young man, you were there when all of this happened?" She asked Preston. He nodded his head. "Why yes, good sir!"

"And you aren't lying to us, son?" Her dad asked. "Just because I have a knack for the theater arts doesn't mean I'm a liar!" Preston explained.

Dawson pulled Hilary over out of earshot. "I still don't believe him. What if they were both in on this?" He asked. "Dawson, I've already had this argument. If you really don't trust our own daughter, then let them prove it to us." She responded.

He thought it over for a minute before turning to Nerris, "Make us believe you, then." The Elfkin smiled and motioned Preston to stand next to her.

She whispered to Harrison, "Remember, if something starts going wrong, try your best to use the safe word and we'll help. You can't let him fully take over." The magic boy nodded.

'Are you ready, Shadow?' Harrison asked the demon inside his head. As ready as an unwilling demon can be. Shadow retorted and took partial control over Harrison.

His eyes changed color, and his posture changed. Shadow attempted to stretch, not seeing his restraints. "Wow, are you really that scared of me?" He teased.

"You almost killed all of us!" Preston yelled, "Of course we're scared of you!"

"Good. You're smart for that. Now, I did say I wouldn't go nicely, didn't I? Well, I'll have you know, these wimpy human ropes are no match for a demons powers." Shadow said, smirking.

Nerris' parents were shocked. They could tell this wasn't Harrison. Everything besides his features are the same. His voice is even deeper. "N-Nerris, honey, what exactly is happening...?" Hilary asked cautiously.

"We are in the presence of Shadow, Harrison's demon." She explained, picking up her sword that lay on the floor. "Sweet, innocent, Nerris. That sword won't do much either. You'd have to have weapons from my realm to slay me for good. And I don't think you're getting those anytime soon." The demon said, a red glow surrounding his body.

Nerris stepped in front of her parents. "Whatever happens, stay behind me. Got it?" She asked them. The shook their heads. Preston stood next to Nerris. Shadow laughed, and a glimpse of Harrison came through. "Magic!!" He yelled.

That was the safe word. That means there would be trouble.
