The next morning, Clementine was seated at a picnic table, AJ at her side. She was busy carving a stick. AJ watched as she scratched the knife down the stick, causing small shavings of wood to fly off. He was mesmerized by each careful stroke of the knife, making the wood slowly become something else.
Clem's mind, however, was in another place. The events of last night replayed in her head. Gabe's arrival, his weird behavior, Louis's cold feelings towards him. It was all so confusing. Clementine could only hope it would all be blown over by this morning.
Hearing footsteps, Clem stopped whittling and looked up. Gabe approached her, yawning. He smiled at Clementine and sat down next to her. Very close to her. She glanced over at AJ, willing him to stay with her. Unfortunately, he had decided that it was now the right time to help Omar with breakfast. Nervously, Clem waited for Gabe to speak.
"Good morning, Clem," he finally said.
"Morning Gabe. How did you sleep?" Clem was uncomfortable facing him, with how close he was seated.
"Great, thanks. I was so happy last night, getting to see you...you look just how I remember you..." Gabe replied in a light tone.
Clem couldn't help but cringe. "Okay..."
"You know, I've thought about you every day since you've left Richmond..."
"Okay." Clementine reached for her crutches and quickly stood up. "What's gotten into you, Gabe? Why are you flirting with me so much?"
He looked surprised and a little hurt at her sudden response. "Last time I saw you, it seemed like you liked me."
"We were fourteen, Gabe! It's been two years! I have a boyfriend!"
A strange expression covered his face. "A boyfriend...? Who?"
"Louis," she replied quietly.
"Louis? That idiot?" He pointed across the courtyard at Louis, who happened to be doing his signature jacket flip. Clem almost smiled but stopped herself.
Louis noticed them staring and stode over. "Hey guys," he said slowly, putting his arm around Clem's shoulder, causing Gabe's expression to tighten. "Is everything okay?"
"Yep," Gabe replied, abruptly getting up. "Everything is great."
As he walked away, Clem let out a shaky sigh.
"What was that about?" Louis asked.
"He got all pissed when I told him we were a thing," Clem answered, shrugging.
"Dumb bitch," Louis laughed. Clem looked up in surprise. She was expecting Louis to be as annoyed as her. His eyes widened a d he laughed again. "I mean, I know he's your friend, sorry..."
"He's not my friend. Not anymore."

Gabe avoided Clem for the rest of the morning. She was a little disappointed at how much Gabe had changed. No longer was he the dorky, sweet guy she remembered. He was now a grown man on the outside and an immature child on the inside, a child who didn't like it when he didn't get his way.
Around noon, Gabe, Harper and Cato approached Clem, who was sitting near the gate, on watch. All three wore a solemn look on their faces.
"Everything okay?" Clementine asked carefully.
"Yes. Thank you for letting us stay, we're leaving," Gabe said, his tone oddly formal.
"Already?" Clementine said. "We haven't even caught up yet, Gabe..."
At that, Gabe eyed Cato, indicating him to speak.
"Yes," he said, answering Gabe's signal. "But we have to get back to our group."
The three turned to leave, thanking Clem as they walked away. Gabe glanced over back at Clem and quickly knelt down next to her. "I'll...uh, I'll see you around, Clem." He swallowed anxiously. "And sorry about earlier..."
"Gabe, it's okay, you don't need to apologize." Clementine pulled him in for a hug. As she drew her body away, he took her by the chin and kissed her.
"What the fuck?" she said, taken aback.
Gabe had a smug look on his face. "Oh, Clem..." he whispered, standing up. "This won't be the last time you see me. I always get what I want."
