"Hermes, what's going on?" I whisper because the sound of my voice sounds alien outside in the night time air. Hermes looks at me with a sly smile and his eyes dance with joy. He turns toward the sky and gives out a screech so loud that I have to cover my ears.Thunder crashes and lightning strikes the ground in front of me, I scream and back up quickly, there stands where lightning struck a handsome blonde boy with piercing blue eyes that peer into my soul and pouty pink lips and flush cheeks. He's good looking as if he belonged on the cover of a fashion magazine.

"Hello Fire." His voice matches his looks, sweet and makes my mind dance. He smiles and I know exactly who he is. This is just a cover, the slut of the gods, Zeus.

"Hello, Uncle." I say uncle with emphasis, to drill it into Zeus' head that I am his blood, but that never stopped him before. He smirks and waves his hand, the image of the gorgeous boy disappears and my uncle stands before me, this time I recognize him. He smiles then laughs and grabs Hermes into his armpit and laughs.

"Smart girl she is! And beautiful." Hearing him call me beautiful makes my skin crawl and stomach flip, Hermes pushes himself out of reach from Zeus and takes in quick breaths. "I appeared to you as your dream man," my dream man is blonde with blue eyes? "I pulled on the strongest image of a boy in your mind, that Daye boy and modeled my image after him." My cheeks warm at the mention of Daye's name, I don't have feelings for Daye, do I? I push it aside and stare down Hermes, I lash out and strike him in the chest, he gags and falls to his knees, I turn toward Zeus but he is no longer there.

"Fire," he says my name with such love and affection that I feel I am not worthy. I turn and see Night running toward me with his arms open wide, I smile like a fool and run toward him. My eyes wash over his face and skin and find he isn't bruised or bloody from when I whooped his ass, I haven't been with Medusa that long. I stop in my tracks and smell a trap, I look closer at Night and see it isn't Night, Night morphs into Daye and back again.

"STOP THIS ZEUS!" I scream, my head and heart now jumbled up with the thought of loving Daye and Night. It can't be possible but seeing Night and Daye makes my heart flip. "Hermes, what is it you wanted?!" I wheel around on Hermes as he rises from the ground, I plant my boot on his chest and he squirms beneath me. "TELL ME!" The ground shakes with my voice and Zeus laughs, Hermes points toward Zeus and coughs, disappearing into a cloud of dust.

"It was a test," Hermes' voice sounds like the buzzing of a fly in my ear. "And you passed."

"The little bugger is correct." Zeus' voice bounces off of the clouds and back to my ears. He plucks Hermes out of the cloud of dust and returns him to his human form. I look at Hermes in Zeus' grip all bones and pale. On his feet he has shoes with wings attached to the sides, how did he not escape Medusa earlier.

"A test, for what?! I risked my life, and if you didn't know my powers aren't working at the moment." They turn to each other with eyes of fear, something isn't right. "What is it?" My head starts to swim and my lungs feel tight as if something is holding my heart on the inside. I cough and a cloud of smoke billows out of my mouth. Zeus and Hermes scream, Zeus tries to strike the cloud of smoke with a bolt of lightning but that causes it to split into two clouds. I wave the smoke away and it clings to my arm, I wipe it on my jeans but none of it comes off. "Damn," they look at me, this time their eyes are the size of my fist, frozen with fear. "Someone better start talking," I lift up a spare rib bone lying on the ground and position it toward the gods.

They nod their heads and tell me a story.

"A long time ago, I mean LONG, there was a thing."

"A thing?"
