Lily's POV

After 17 years of being with Catherine, the Mother Superior, I knew almost anything there is to know about them and her bloodline. I knew and met all of her forms, unfortunately, I still wasn't able to deal with Bloodborn but we're working on it.

But never, since I had finished that Bloodborn book, had I taken that book again to go through it again. Yet, I was doing that right now.

I wanted to find the root of this weird destiny about a Superior sleeping with their human parent. I wanted to find the reason why this was deemed ok.

I get it though, the reasoning behind it, it does make sense, but it's not normal. It shouldn't be encouraged. There should be something else we could do.

"Hey Lily," Marianne said as she sat down with me at the dining table. "Reading up again?"

I glanced up at her before looking back at the book. "Mhm."

"Why?"

I sighed and looked up at her, I realized she wouldn't let me read peacefully. I closed the book. "I want to understand the Superior's destiny."

Marianne raised her eyebrows. "Is there something unclear about that?"

I sighed and looked away. "It's just weird to me, that's all."

"It is," Marianne sighed, making me look at her. "We, as humans, have been taught that having such interactions with family is completely forbidden. But they don't see it that way."

This intrigued me. "What do you mean?"

"Family doesn't mean the same to them, especially not to Catherine's bloodline."

"Then what does it mean?"

Marianne looked down as if looking for the right words. "Family means true blood," She started. She then looked up at me. "Emily's blood is a combination of yours and Catherine's. And Catherine's seeds react to the right blood."

"The right blood?" I asked to which Marianne nodded. "But I thought seeds reacted positively to the right potential?"

Marianne showed me a small smile. "What do you think the right potential means to them?"

I looked down then. "It's all blood-related," I then looked at her, seeing her nod. "It's always blood-related."

"Precisely," She then reached for my hands, holding them in hers. "She had to have sex with you because you have the right blood."

"Yes, to Catherine."

"I know," Marianne sighed. "But there's a 50% chance it's Emily's type too."

I pulled my hands back. "Thanks, Marianne," I then got up, taking the Bloodborn book. "I'll be in my room." I then left the dining room.

Around the evening, the door to my bedroom opened. "Lily?" Marianne entered. "Catherine and Emily have arrived."

I nodded but didn't say anything.

I heard Marianne leave.

I sighed as I continued reading. I had flipped every page, looking for some kind of information to prove that their old tradition was wrong. Unfortunately, I found nothing.

"Hey haewa," Catherine said as she entered the room. She walked to the bed and laid down next to me. "The Bloodborn book? Why do you need to read that again?"

I closed the book before putting it next to me. I turned to lay on my back. "I just wanted to refresh my knowledge."

"Refresh your knowledge?" Catherine smirked a bit. "You're such a terrible liar," She got on top of me, trapping me. "But I love you."

I smiled a bit.

Catherine's smirk vanished. "This is usually the moment you tell me you love me too."

I gulped and looked away a bit.

"Haewa," She made me look at her again. "What's wrong?"

I looked her in the eyes and was relieved when I spotted genuine concerns. I don't know why I would question Catherine's feelings for me. I know she loves me, she has loved me ever since we met. Yet, her wanting me and Emily to reproduce just didn't stick well with me.

"Haewa?"

"Nothing," I pushed her off and got up. "Let's go eat dinner."

Before I had the chance to even leave the bedroom, Catherine had wrapped her arms around me. "I don't want you to go."

I sighed. "I'm hungry."

"Me too," She kissed my neck, licking around her bite mark. "I want my haewa to be alright. If not, I'm not letting you go."

"Catherine, I'm seriously not in the mood for games."

Catherine released me a bit, chuckling. "Was Emily that rough?"

That made me look at her. I was shocked. I was upset. I was disgusted. How could she joke about that? How is this normal for her?

Catherine's chuckles died. "Was she?"

And what saddened me the most is that she didn't seem to be jealous or possessive over me, as a married partner should be.

"Haewa?"

I sighed, shook my head, and left the bedroom. I heard Catherine hurry after me, calling my name and trying to reach for me to stop me, but I wouldn't stop. I just didn't feel like being with her for now.

We arrived in the dining room, where everyone was seated at the table. I sat down at my regular spot, which was right across from Emily and next to Benjamin.

Catherine sat at the head of the table, in between me and Emily. "This looks delicious, Marianne." She smiled at Marianne, trying to cover up her frustrations from our conversation.

After dinner, everyone moved to the tv. Every evening, we watched tv, as a family. Though, Marianne would usually be later as she cleaned the table and sometimes did the dishes too. Ben wasn't always present as he would sometimes have to guard his post during this time. Esmee and Catherine rarely didn't join, as they could have meetings in the office at home.

Today, however, I wasn't joining. I went straight upstairs. I walked towards my bedroom but, when I arrived at my bedroom door, I stopped. Suddenly I was unsure if this would be the room I'd sleep in tonight. What if Catherine expects me to sleep with Emily again?

"Mom?"

I looked at my left, seeing Emily arrive too. "Hey," I let go of the door to Catherine and my bedroom. "Aren't you going to watch tv?"

Emily tilted her head a bit, it was clear she could see through my facade. "What's wrong?"

I looked down as I let out a sigh.

"Mom?"

I shook my head. "I'm just tired of faking all the time," I looked at Emily. "Let's get some sleep, shall we?"

Emily didn't seem to believe me but nodded.

We entered her room, got dressed in pajamas, and went straight to bed. Once again, we didn't reproduce but we'd tell everyone we did...
