Emily's POV

I had prepared, with the help of my parents, and was on my way to Jen's house. I was walking there, as I didn't want to put anyone in danger by going too close to her house. And I could use this time to think about what I'll say to her family.

I know her family will hate me, they hate my kind so they hate me... It's so stupid and so unfair. Why do I get blamed for the bad things a few of my people are doing? As if we're all bad...

On my way there, I came across some of my people. I greeted them and they bowed for me, showing their respect. They told me they were hunting, as they were hungry. I wonder if they suffered from bloodthirsty...

I remember zaezzes telling me she suffered from that condition when I was about 2 years old. She had a very hard time and is still trying to deal with it as bloodthirsty is a life-long disease. She had to manage every blood intake per day, she can't overdo it as she'd turn easily then. Thankfully she had mom to watch out for her too.

That was one of the things I needed to tell Jen too. I had a lot of explaining to do, perhaps I could use the Bloodborn book. Mom read it, and every other human before her too. It should help to understand our kind.

I soon arrived at Jen's house and noticed the few extra cars parked in front of it. Was her family already at the house?

I gulped, suddenly feeling nervous. I took my phone and called her, as I didn't know if I should enter through the front door or go to her room.

"Emily, are you almost here?"

"Yeah," I gulped. "I'm in front of your house. Do you want me to ring the doorbell or go around?"

"Uhm," I could hear she was busy, probably making dinner or entertaining her family... "I'll come to the front door." She then hung up.

I walked to the front door and waited.

When it opened, I saw Jen. She was dressed in a beautiful dress that was loosely around her, I wonder if she was getting self-conscious about her body already... I mean, no way anyone could see a baby bump already. It's way too early for that.

"Hey," I smiled and walked to her. "I missed you." I wrapped my arms around her.

She smiled as she wrapped her arms around my neck. "I missed you too," She leaned her forehead against mine, releasing a deep breath. "I'm so tired already..."

"After dinner, I'll give you a massage," I pulled back a little to look at her face. "What do you say?"

She let out a content sigh. "That sounds perfect."

I smiled. "Good."

"Jen, who's at the door?" I heard her cousin, Suzy, ask from inside the house.

Jen looked at me. "Are you ready?"

I took a deep breath, trying to find all the confidence I had within me. "As ready as I'll ever be."

Jen nodded and took my hand. She led me inside the house and took me to the dining room, where 4 people were seated at the table. "Hey everyone," She said as she must've noticed them all look at me. "I'd like to introduce you to my girlfriend, Emily."

I took this as my cue to talk. "Hello," I went to sit down at the table, where Jen motioned me to sit. "Nice meeting you all."

They nodded but didn't seem convinced.

"Emily," Jen said, gaining my attention. "This is my mother," She motioned to the woman sitting in front of me. "She works for the CAT as a lead researcher," She said, giving me a look. "That is my aunt," She motioned to the woman sitting right next to her mother. "And these are Riley and Suzy, you've met them before."
