~TJ's POV~
The sky was full of gloom energy as dark clouds were plentiful. However, the small glimmer of sunlight I saw poking through kept me believing in reuniting with Cyrus. The hope that every thing could be okay again. Hopefully.
I had taken a quick scroll through his Instagram after he accepted my follow request. He was definitely taller, but nothing else had changed. He's still friends with Buffy, Andi, and Jonah. I even saw a picture of him and Marty. His smile is still brighter than the sun. It was a contagious smile too. I found myself breaking into a smile at every picture I came across with him smiling in it.
I really did miss him a lot. Now, however, is no time to be missing him because I'm going to be seeing him.
As I reached the entrance of the park my phone started to ring. I looked down and saw a number I didn't know, but the area code looked like Shadyside's so I answered it.
"Hello?" I said.
"Hi TJ! It's Kira!" Kira said and my face immediately fell into a frown.
"How'd you get my number?" I asked as I stopped walking.
"That's not important right now. What IS important is the fact that you're going to see Cyrus right now even after I told you not to talk to him."
"How do you even know that's what I'm doing?" I questioned her.
"I saw you head toward the park after school. From what I remember, that is the 'Cyrus and TJ' Spot. Correct?" I hated the sound of her voice. Every word was sinister.
"Firstly, creep. Secondly, what does it matter to you anyway?"
"Oh it doesn't matter to me as much as it should matter to you. I just wanna mess with Cyrus's heart to get back at Buffy for banning me from the basketball team, but I'll let the whole school know that you're gay if you decide to foil that." I could tell she was smirking.
The emotional build-up that I had was intense. I had waited three years to reconcile with Cyrus, and now I was so close. I decided to make a call that could wreck my whole life, but I knew it would save it.
"Go ahead and tell everyone. I don't care. I've waited too long to reconcile with Cyrus. I'm not letting you get in the way." Before she could react I ended the call and pushed forward to the swings.
I put everything about her outing me in the back of my mind while I walked toward the one thing that has been on my mind consistently for the past three years.
Cyrus.
I kept my breathing steady to avoid any weird looks by the other park-goers. I was nervous and scared, but at the same time I was determined. I needed to see him. After so long it was time that I got to put all of this negative energy behind us. I can't imagine how he feels.
As I expected, I saw him sitting on the a swing right where we became friends. I dawn the nickname 'Underdog' for him and the rest was history. Now, much like the first time I approached him that day, I was a nervous mess. This meeting could make or break what we would be.
As I got closer I realized that I didn't even know what to say. So, I said the first thing that came to my head.
"Chocolate chocolate chip muffin, right?" I started shaking hoping he'd catch on. Hoping he wouldn't run away or yell at me.
"Scary basketball guy." He smiled.
"Actually, TJ."
"I know. Cyrus." He said pointing to himself.
