~TJ's POV~"Kippen." Buffy deadpans at me as Cyrus and I approached the table in The Spoon.
"Driscoll." I said and I could tell Cyrus rolled his eyes.
"You two really aren't going to start this whole feud, are you?" Cyrus asked.
"No." Buffy said simply.
"Afraid to lose to me already?" I chuckled sarcastically.
"As if." She playfully rolled her eyes.
"They're joking with each other. It's a miracle." Andi exaggerated, earning a laugh from everyone.
We all sat together which gave me an opportunity to catch up on everything that I missed when I was gone. Thankfully, everyone was happy to see me back. They all were glad that Cyrus and I were okay too.
"Cyrus, who's hat is that? It's definitely not yours. You never wear baseball caps." Andi said and I started blush.
"Oh it's TJ's. I bought it for him a few months before he moved." Cyrus replied. He wasn't ashamed it was mine which was nice.
"Cute." Marty said earning a nudge from Buffy. "Cool. I meant cool." He chuckled. Marty was definitely implying that he thought me letting Cyrus wear my hat was cute. I blushed a deeper shade of red.
"Anyways," Buffy transitioned, "how're you feeling TJ? With the whole Kira thing." Buffy really must've changed because she never asked me how I was feeling about anything, ever.
"I'm fine as long as my dad doesn't find out. It wouldn't end very well." I tried to keep my face from looking glum, but it was hard. I was pretty scared as to what my dad would do if he found out. I leaned back a bit more in the booth to relax myself. I didn't want to get upset around everyone.
"We're here for you TJ." Marty said. Buffy and Andi nodded.
"Exactly. If anything happens, we've got you. Okay?" Cyrus said and it made my heart flutter. They all cared. Even Cyrus did and it was alleviating.
"I appreciate it, I really do guys. Thank you." I smiled at everyone and they smiled back.
"You still play basketball?" Buffy asked, changing the subject to avoid any awkward silence.
"Yeah I do. I was captain at the school I just left. Two state championships too." I smiled and remembered winning both. It didn't feel fantastic to win only because it wasn't home to me. It was nice to win, but it would've been better to win it at Grant. Maybe this was the year.
"Super cool dude! Think you can do it this year?" Marty asked.
"Maybe. How's the team look?" I asked, directing the question to Buffy.
"If you join, you'll be able to string them together." She said.
"Alright nice." I said, mentally noting it.
We spent a bit more time eating and laughing. Man I loved Cyrus's laugh. His smile. I tried to shake the thoughts. There's no way he could like me. I just got back and I'm his best friend. Thankfully my ridiculous thoughts were shaken when Buffy and Marty said they had to go. Andi also had to go, so they all left together.
It was just me and Cyrus now.
"Any plans for tonight, Underdog?" I asked. Hoping he'd say no.
"Actually, yeah. I have this math packet due tomorrow and instead of working on it in class, I was talking to Amber. To be fair though, I missed like half of class." He laughed, but his face quickly change to anxiety.
