~Cyrus's POV~

Bzzzzzz. Bzzzzzzzz. Bzzzzzzzzzz

I picked myself up off my bed and swiped away my alarm on my phone. Today seemed like it was going to be simple. All I had planned was to watch Jonah's Ultimate practice and then go home and sleep. After homework of course.

I looked at my hair in the mirror and for once I disregarded it. Middle school 'no gel' Cyrus returns for the day. I put on my clothes and headed to the door where I was almost immediately greeted by Jonah who was about to knock.

"Cy-Guy! Want a ride?" He smiled with his Ultimate bag in his hand.

"Sure! See ya mom!" I hollered. I heard her say I love you as I closed the door. I smiled.

"So you excited to watch me throw around the Frisbee with a high school team?" Now when I tell you Jonah was beaming, I mean he was BEAMING. Like the sun is only rival for how bright his mood was right now.

"Yes. Maybe I'll join the team." I chuckled.

"Wait seriously?" He asked with absolute seriocity.

"I mean maybe. I'm not that sporty and you know that Jonah." We both laughed as we got into his car.

"Well if you ever need help learning, let me know." He pushes the start button on the car and we were off to Grant High School.

We were about half way to Grant, Jonah looked over at me.

"No gel today?" He asked rhetorically.

"Nope. I actually just didn't feel like it today. Why?" I asked.

"No reason. It looks good." He smiled and my mouth was tugged into one as well.

"Thanks JB."

When we got through the front doors we saw Andi hard at work on her mural already. She never stopped working on it, but I'm glad she never did. He confidence was a driving force for me sometimes. I liked consistency and she was definitely the queen of it now.

"Looking good Andi!" I called to her and she returned it with a smile. The bright colors behind her adding to her already beautiful smile.

"Than- Cyrus your hair!" She called out and rushed over to me. "It looks good Cyrus." She smiled and hugged me.

"Thanks Andi. I'll see you in first!" Me and Jonah then started walking to our lockers.

"I can't wait to meet the new kids. Hopefully we can keep them from getting corrupted by the toxic side of the student body." I full on meant that too. We've seen our fair share of innocent new kids get corrupted by the toxicity of the hierarchy.

"I haven't heard anything about them yet, but it's only the beginning of the day." Jonah replied and started fidgeting with his locker combination.

"I swear, I can never get these down until the end of each year." He laughed at himself and still struggled with getting it open.

"I'll see you in third Jonah. Good luck with that. You'll never figure it out if I help you every time." I laughed and walked off. He looked defeated, but he kept trying. He laughed at my comment too.

As I rounded the corner I thought I heard a voice that hadn't touched my ears in years. As I went to look back though, Jonah wasn't there and neither was the face that belonged to that almost forgotten voice. I shrugged off the situation and went to first period. I was most definitely hallucinating.

English was uneventful. Me and Andi began walking out, and she asked me a question, out of the blue might I add.

"Do you want to eat lunch with me today? Like while I'm working on my mural?"
