Miles kicked his feet into the water of the pool, snickering when it got onto one of the girl's hair and she screamed. Jumping away from the water and scowling towards him. He could hear screams around him, from other girls who were being chased into the pool and boys who were laughing as they tackled them into the water. Carter had turned twelve today and Nolan thought Carter should invite almost her entire grade to her house for a pool party.
Even though Nolan knew that every year on Miles or Carter's birthday, all they wanted was to spend it with each other and family. Miles didn't protest about her having a party though because Carter was so excited. Jumping around school as she told everyone she saw that she was having a party. She was smiling so wide, eyes bright with joy as she told almost every person to come to the party.
And yet, even though she was excited, she was no where in sight.
"Where's Carter?" Miles looked up from his feet towards one of his closets friends, Alex. Miles shrugged, "I don't know, she went up to her room a while back."
"She's really ganna miss her own birthday party?"
Miles huffed, shaking his head, "I'm bored."
"What you wanna do?"
Miles smirked, jumping towards Alex and wrapping his arms around Alex's neck before diving back, trying to get Alex to get into the water. Alex hated water and it brought Miles absolute joy to tease him about it.
Alex grunted, pushing Miles away from him, only to make them both stumble into the pool. Miles cackled as they fell back, enjoying Alex letting out a squeal of protest.
Alex cried out as they fell into the water and he immediately swam towards the steps once he'd surfaced the edge of the water. "You're such an ass, Miles."
Miles shook his head rapidly, water flying from his hair before turning towards Alex with a smirk, "It's a pool party, you gotta swim, dude."
Alex scowled, "I'm not coming near the water again."
Standing up from the side of the pool, Miles shrugged, "Well since you're not going to swim with me, I might as well go see where Carter is."
Running past his friend, Miles made his way into the house Nolan had bought a few years back when he noticed how bored Carter got inside an apartment. So he bought a huge house that had a princess park and a huge pool. Carter was obsessed with the place.
Miles scammed the kitchen, remembering that Nolan had been flirting with the single mothers. Noticing Nolan wasn't there, Miles went to go look for Carter himself. Jogging towards the stairs, Miles took it two at the time before making his way over towards Carter's room, only to freeze when he saw Nolan against the door, eavesdropping.
"That's disgusting."
Nolan jumped at the sound of Miles voice and sent the door a glare over his shoulder, "They're talking about boys."
Miles rushed over, placing his ear against the door to hear what was going on inside the room. There must have been a few other girls beside Carter in the door because Miles could hear other voices.
"Peter looked so cute in his swim shorts." One of the girls giggled only to be cut off when another girl snorted.
"He's so thin, you'd break him."
Carter giggled, and Miles smiled at the sound of her voice. "Don't be rude, Kate. I'm sure Peter likes you, Lily, I invited him so you guys can talk."
