"Merry Christmas!"
Nolan groaned, running a hand over his face at the loud shout of his daughter who was standing on his bed. Jumping up and down as she shouted for him to wake up, "Daddy, wake up. It's Christmas."
Nolan sighed, rolling over, his hand shooting out to lock around Carter's ankle and tug her down onto the bed. "Princess, it's way too early for this."
Carter giggled, rolling over until she went off the side of the bed, "Get up! Pa's here and we want to open presents!"
Carter poked Nolan one more time before she ran from his room, skipping down the stairs until she was in the living room where Lucas, her grandfather was pushing a Barbie wrapped gift under the Christmas tree. Carter chuckled, shaking her head as she walked over to her pa. "Pa, you know I'm too old for Barbie gifts."
Lucas scoffed, shaking his head, "It's not Barbie, pumpkin. I just have a lot of wrapping leftover from when you were younger."
Carter's eyes widened, "You have that much wrapping?"
Her grandfather grinned, nodding his head, "Where's your father? He better get down here or I'm going to go up there–"
"You can do nothing, old man." Lucas's head snapped up at the sound of his son's voice and rolled his eyes as he watched his son make his way over towards the kitchen slowly. He wanted his coffee before he had to deal with his father.
"I see you're finally up. I'm glad you're not working this Christmas."
Nolan frowned, "You know I stopped working during the holidays to be with Carter." He turned towards Carter who had a wide smile across her face and he smiled back. He hadn't missed a single birthday, thanksgiving or Christmas since Carter had come in his life and he made sure to keep it that way. He remembered sometimes when he was younger, that Lucas would miss a Christmas because he was overseas on a business trip and Nolan would get so upset. Because he wanted to celebrate Christmas as a family.
So he made sure that he was here every special occasion so he could be with his daughter. He couldn't miss that big smile on her face, or the big hugs she gave him when he bought her something.
Turning to his father after he'd poured his coffee, Nolan made his way over to the Christmas tree where Lucas and Carter was busy crouching around.
Lucas smiled, nodding his head, "I know you don't work but weren't you doing some movie?"
Nolan smirked, "They took a break just for me."
Carter rolled her eyes, turning to her grandpa, "Pa, do you want hot chocolate?"
Lucas looked up, watching as Carter stood to her feet with a smile, "Sure, pumpkin. Make some for your ma and grandpa, they're almost here."
Carter gasped, nodding as she hurried over to the kitchen to warm up some milk. Nolan settled down next to his father, "So, you find you a wife yet?"
Nolan was shocked to see his father blush, "Hey, spill."
His father chuckled, shaking his head, "You know I went on this trip a few weeks back to catch up with old friends from my work. And I met a woman there. Her name's Melissa and I saw her a few times but I didn't see her after that."
Nolan smiled, "You get laid?"
The question must have shocked Lucas because he chocked, raising a fist to knock against his chest as he broke into a fit of coughs. Nolan smirked, "Look at you, being old and wrinkly and still getting a woman in the sack."
