C H A P T E R  F O R T Y - S I X

"It's official, guys! Miles Wade and Carter Pierce has taken the next step and are engaged!" The people on the E gushed, all of them sitting around a table as they talked about the latest gossip. The current topic was the couple's engagement. Carter blushed as she watched everything. A warm feeling settling in her stomach as she glanced down at her ring. She bit her lip, wanting to keep back a squeal of delight that always threatened to escape when ever she saw her ring.

"From an instagram post from Miles and Carter's accounts, the couple posted a picture of Carter's engagement ring." One woman announced, while the picture Carter and Miles had posted on Instagram appeared across the screen. A man's voice appeared after, "And wasn't it gone beautifully. Miles put so much effort in with that cute date on London's eye."

Miles smirked, shoving Carter's with his shoulder as if to brag. She rolled her eyes, a smile breaking out onto her face as she shoved him back. Miles hadn't stopped smiling since that day and he was happy to see a smile never leave his fiancé's face as well. Wrapping an arm around her shoulders, a placed a hard kiss against her cheek before looking back up at the tv.

After he had proposed, the couple had spent a little more time in the Ferris wheel cart admiring the view and talking about how happy they were in that moment. Carter had told Miles how long she had been waiting for this moment and had been planning it in her head for so long. Miles didn't have much ideas for the wedding to share other then that they both had to say I do.

After, they'd went back to the apartment where Carter was surprised by her family. She had been so happy, she started crying happily and had buried herself in Nolan's arms when he had walked over to congratulate the couple. He teased Miles about her leaving him at the alter which earned him slaps from Carter, Maggie and Abbie. Carter had to reassure Miles after that she wouldn't live him at the alter when she saw his horrified expression.

Porter made it even worse by saying that if it happened, the whole world would know about it. But after a little wine, Miles was happy and tipsy.

Nolan was in a joyous mode, loving to see his daughter happy only for the night to fall when Abbie tried to convince Miles and Carter to take their hotel room so they could enjoy their first night together as an engaged couple. Nolan didn't like the fact that Abbie had not so secretly wiggled her eyebrows suggesting you know what. Carter had blushed and Miles had ended up running from an angry Nolan when he wiggled his eyebrows back.

The couple ended up staying in the hotel with Nolan to ease his mind. However when they were back home...

Everyone had left London a few days after the proposal and had settled into their normal routine while Miles and Carter were stuck in a happy phase filled with smiles, rainbows and sunshine. Nothing could destroy their mood because after eighteen years of being fake married, they were finally doing the real thing.

As E moved onto the next topic of discussion, Miles turned to Carter, "What time are you supposed to meet Abbie?"

Carter shrugged, looking down at her cell that was in her lap before looking back up at him, "In an hour. She's going to see if my dress fits me." She was buzzing with joy as she said that and Miles chuckled. When Carter found out Abbie had been designing her dress since she was younger, she couldn't wait to see it.

"Well, since you've got a hour, why don't we head off to the bedroom."

Carter smirked, leaning up to trailer kisses against Miles's jaw, "Why don't we spend that hour right here? On the couch."

Miles's face broke out into a happy smirk before he was diving to get rid of his fiancé's clothes.
