"You're solid, too," I mumbled, resting my head on his back. "Like Earth."

"What was that?" he yelled over the roaring wind. "I couldn't hear you. You need to speak up, Trinity!"

I said nothing but gripped onto his waist tighter and closed my eyes, letting the sound and the feeling wash over me.

When I finally opened my eyes again, Luke was parking his bike with ease. He looked at me and smiled. "Are you feeling okay, Trinity?" I nod, as I take off the helmet.

"Next time, we should go without helmets," I say, passing it to him. He chuckles, slinging his arm over my shoulder. "Who knew you were such a daredevil?"

We walked for a bit, and it was only when I saw the pebbles on the ground was when I realized we were at the beach.

"Water," I whispered excitedly, getting out of Luke's grip and running foward, hoping to see the reflection of the moon on the salty water.

"Trinity! Wait up!" I heard Luke call after me, but I didn't care. I didn't stop running. I stopped a few centimeters away from the water and kicked off my sneakers and rolled up my sleeves and pants.

Slowly, I stepped into the water, the little waves lapping at my ankles. I sighed contentedly, feeling calm, despite knowing that I could ruin it at any moment.

"Trinity!" Luke called out again, breathless this time. He kicked off his shoes as well and rolled up his pants before coming into the water with me. "Jesus, you can run," he panted. I held back a laugh and focused on the water instead. I moved forward, letting the water come up to my calves.

Luke slowly moved forward, finally standing beside me. "Of all places, you chose the beach?" I asked.

"Well, I am Water," he said, cocking his head to the side with a mischievous grin on his face.

"And Earth," I added. "And possibly even more." I muttered the last bit.

Luke smiled, snaking his arm around my waist and pulling me closer to him. "I want to know you, Trin," he murmured in my ear.

I groaned, pushing him away. "Really?" I asked, walking back to the sand. "Of all things, you chose to be cheesy? Not cool, Luke." He shrugged, struggling to hold back a laugh.

"What can I say? I love cheesy lines!" He said, opening up his arms. I rolled my eyes as I sat on the sand, just watching the water move according to the wind. Luke stares at me for a bit before joining me.

"Hey," he says softly, nudging me lightly. "You okay?" I nod, then responded.

"Earth," I whispered. "Earth and Water, that's what you are. From what I know so far."

"So far?" he asks, one eyebrow raised.

"You seem so much more than just those two elements," I replied. "You're in pain, aren't you?" Luke lets out a shaky laugh.

"It was a girl," he said, not wanting to look at me. "We had dated for a year and suddenly, she was gone. Just like that."

"Do you mean Gwen?" I asked, noticing that his eyes were no longer the light and pretty shade of blue. They were darker now, with a tinge of red. He nodded, blinking a couple of times before saying, "I loved her so much and she was gone. Cell phone number was changed. Skype account was deleted. All forms of communication were cut off."

I had her number. I had Gwen's number. I could give it to Luke right now. I could.

I didn't.

Instead, I wrapped my arms around him and kissed his temple. His arms circled my torso as he sobbed.

Why don't I take you out of your misery and give you her new number? Why am I not doing the things I should be doing?

Because I'm selfish. I'm pain. I'm chaotic. I'm possessive. You heard me.

I want Luke all to myself.
