ACT 1 SCENE 2
-Opens on an office room, papers laying about in random places, books piled high, pictures and newspaper clippings hanging on all walls. A voice from off stage says
Voice: And I swear Mary-Jane, if I don’t get my coffee in the next thirty seconds, you’re out of here!
-Chelsey enters the office room angry and starts throwing some papers and a book or two. She then flops down in the big chair behind the desk
Chelsey: *smiles and puts feet on desk* It’s good to be the boss
-Kayla throws open the door and Chelsey scrambles to get out of the chair
Kayla: Are you trying to fire my secretary again?
Chelsey: No! I would never- I mean- she was- I just...
Kayla: Can it. I don’t want to hear another word. *glares* Get out of my chair.
Chelsey: I’m sorry boss. I was- I was just- I was just trying to keep it warm for you! *pats the chair that she has recently vacated* See? Nice and comfy.
-Kayla steps around her and slams her briefcase down on the desk. Chelsey flinches and moves away at the sound
Kayla: Kiss up. Sit down and file something.
-Chelsey pulls up a tiny chair and a huge filing box and starts picking up some of the papers laying about. Every few seconds she looks up at kayla who is writing something on her desk calendar. Suddenly the phone rings off stage. Jessica voice from off stage says
Jessica: Boss, you’ve got a case.
Chelsey: *jumps up* Boss, please, oh please, oh please take me with you! I’ll be so good! You won’t even notice me! Please!
Kayla: *Contemplates for minute* Well...
Chelsey: Yeah?
Kayla: You have have been good lately.
Chelsey:Yes!
Kayla: And you haven’t set anything on fire in the past few weeks.
Chelsey: *Frowning* That was one time and it wasn’t my fault!
Kayla: I know, you keep reminding me.
Chelsey Only because you keep bringing it up!
Kayla: *laughs* I know. I love the look on your face when I do.
Chelsey: So can I go? Please?!
Kayla: I suppose. *Over Chelsey cheering* But one mess up and you’re right back here. And Mary-Jane will be in charge!
Chelsey: No worries boss. I’m just glad i get to go!
Kayla: Alright. We leave tomorrow morning. Early! *chelsey nods quickly* Mary-Jane, Would you tell them i”m coming? and i’ll have an extra?
Chelsey: YAY!!!
Jessica: Absolutely boss. They’ll be expecting you.
