ACT 1 SCENE 11
-In an office. Kayla and Chelsie
Kayla: If you think of anything you want to ask him, run it by me and I’ll let you ask.
Chelsie: Really? I get to be a part of this interview?
Kayla: Only if you think of something you want to ask.
Chelsie: I’ll do my best!
- George enters looking very professional
George: Good afternoon ladies. What can I help you with?
Kayla: Actually, we’re investigating a murder. *Flashes her badge* I was hoping you could answer a few questions.
George: Anything for a lady as lovely as yourself.
Kayla: Cut the crap.
Geroge: My apologies. Shall we proceed? It’s my son’s birthday and I would like to get home on time tonight.
Kayla: What is it, exactly, that you do here?
George: I oversee the prescription writing and fill bottles of pills.
Kayla: Interesting. Chelsie, make a note of this.
Chelsie: Yes, boss.
George: Your assistant is adorable. Any idea where I can find one like her?
Kayla: She’s not my assistant, she’s my partner.
George: interesting.
Kayla: Next question. Do you have any knowledge of what kind of pills can be dissolved into a drink and then kill someone?
George: Of course. That is half of my job. I have to make sure that the bottles are filled appropriately.
Chelsie: Question!
Kayla: Granted.
Chelsie: The bottle we found wasn’t pills, it was some kind of powder. Why is he is suspect if he works with pills?
Kayla: Good question. Sir?
George: Depending on the drug, it might be easier to get it into one's blood stream by grinding the pill into a powder and putting it into a drink.
Kayla: There you go.
Chelsie: Thank you.
Kayla: Now, Sir, I’m going to need you to think hard about this.
George: I hardly think it will be that difficult.
Kayla: Is there any way that someone could take a bunch of medications and create an extremely dangerous poison called Arsenic?
George: I...I don’t believe so. I don’t believe that there is a way. No.
Kayla: Thank you for your time.
-Kayla and Chelsie stand to leave
Chelsie: *To Kayla* What? That is it?
Kayla: Yup.
Chelsie: You didn’t ask the questions, though.
Kayla: Which questions?
Chelsie: You know, “Where were you on this night between the hours of this and this” and “Is there anyone that can prove that?”
Kayla: And you told me you read the case file.
Chelsie: *Embarressed* I may have skimmed a little towards the end.
Kayla: It was all there. I didn’t need to.
Chelsie: But I still don’t get it. Why are we done?
Kayla: Because he said that there was no way for a combination of pills could become Arsenic. He’s no longer a suspect.
Chelsie: Is it okay for me to still suspect him?
Kayla: Sure. Why not.
