Act 1 Scene 7

ACT 1 SCENE 7

-In the police precinct Aly is jumping on the bed. Maddison is sitting at a computer and every time the bed creaks she cringes

Maddison: Stop it! That noise is going to drive me crazy!

Aly: But I’m Captain Cupcake and I have to bounce! *Jumps one time and then off to the floor.*

-Carly and Taylor enter arguing

Carly: Toby loves me better!

Taylor: No Bubbles loves me!

-Maddison stands up. She is very sarcastic as she speaks

Maddison: Excuse me. Is there something I can help you ladies with?

Taylor: Tell her that Bubbles is mine!

Carly: His name is Toby and he’s mine!

Taylor: Her name is...

Maddison: STOP!! What are you talking about?

-Taylor takes a deep breath

Taylor: My lovely roommate *Motions to carly who waves* is convinced that our beautiful blue and green Beta is a boy. Tell her she’s crazy!

Carly: He is a boy! Toby is a boy. If you would listen to me sometime instead of going out with that boy you would know that only the males are colorful!

Taylor: I don’t care! Her name is Bubbles and she’s moving out with me!

-Maddison is leaning against the bars of the cell where Aly is. Both are watching this exchange. Taylor and Carly continue to argue as this takes place.

Maddison: Are you getting any of this?

Aly: Number one is trying to move out of, wherever it is they’re staying, and wants possession of their fish. She’s convinced that the fish is a girl, which it’s not.

Carly: Ha! I told you!

Aly: The other is convinced that it’s a boy, which it is,

Taylor: Whatever!

Aly: But also wants possession of the fish.

Maddison: They’re arguing over a fish? Why don’t they just buy another fish?

-Carly and Taylor both gasp dramatically

Carly: Because,

Taylor: Bubbles,

Carly: Toby.

Taylor: Is one of a kind.

Carly: There is not a single other fish like him.

Taylor: And she loves me best, so she’s leaving with me!

Carly: You never take care of him! I paid more for him anyway! He is staying with me!

Maddison: Ladies!

-Carly and Taylor continue to argue

Madison: *Louder* Ladies!!

-Still arguing

Maddison: *To Aly* Think you can do anything about this?

Aly: I can try. *Loudly* Shoe sale!!

-Has no effect on them

Aly- Cute boys!!

-Carly twitches and stops for a second before jumping right back into the argument

Aly: *To Maddison* I’ve got it! *Loudly again* FRESH BROWNIES!!

-Carly and Taylor stop arguing and look at Aly

Maddison: Over here please * They both look at her* Thank you *Aly nods* Now, the chief is out on a case right now, but I’m sure that as soon as he gets back, he’ll be more than happy to talk to you *Aly jumps on the bed once* But until then, *Aly jumps three times on the bed* Please have a seat in the waiting area. *Aly bounces normally on the bed.* And if you want... *To Aly* STOP IT! If you jump on that bed one more time, I’m going to take it away from you and you won’t be getting it back!

Aly: Captain Cupcake is out. Peace! *Sits down on the floor with her feet up on the bed*

Maddison: *Back to Taylor and Carly* If you want some coffee, it’s through those doors. Bathrooms are also that way. *Motions to the door*

Carly: How long do you think we’re going to be here?

Taylor: We’re going to see a movie in a couple hours.

Carly: We have to go before that so we can get snacks.

Maddison: I don’t know. It could be a while, though.

-Taylor and Carly sigh in unison.

Taylor: There’s always next weekend.

Carly: Yeah.

-They slowly start walking to the waiting area as Maddison returns to her desk

Aly: They’re so civilized now. You’d never know that they were just fighting over a dumb fish.

-Taylor and Carly gasp in unison

Together: He/she is not dumb! *Start arguing about the gender of the fish*

Maddison: I hate you. *Glares at Aly*

Aly: *Thumbs up* Captain Cupcake.
