ACT 1 SCENE 3
-Scene opens with Sara crying over Seans body. A wine glass is on the floor near his hand. The half empty bottle is sitting on the table above them. Charles has his arm around her shoulders and is trying to comfort her
Sara: Why? Why did it have to my husband!?
Charles: *Pats her shoulder and looks uncomfortable* Just be thankful it wasn’t you. I’m sure that glass of poison could have been meant for you too.
-Sara looks appalled and shoves away from him
Sara: How dare you! That was a horrible thing to say!
Charles: *Thoughtfully* Or maybe it was meant for one of your guests. You were expecting company tonight, weren’t you?
Sara: Of course. My husband and I always have dinner with the family down the road on Tuesdays.
Charles: See? That glass could have easily been for one of them.
Sara: But why would someone sneak into our house? Why would someone want to poison anybody? Why was it me? *Sobbing*
Charles: *Not paying any attention to her dramatics* Maybe they had hoped to poison all of you at once. *Picks up the bottle*
Sara: Do you think the whole bottle is poisoned?
-They look at each other and Charles hastily puts the bottle back down.
Charles: Is there any way we can test it?
Sara: Should one of us test it?
Charles: *Taking a few steps away from the bottle* Maybe we should just wait until the police get here.
