Act 1 Scene 6

ACT 1 SCENE 6

-Sara is laying on the ground, an empty wine glass near her hand. A different bottle of wine is sitting on the table above her. People in the background are moving around Sara, taking pictures and measuring and dusting the bottle for fingerprints. Connor is talking to a woman who is dressed in very nice clothes. A man stands behind her with his arm around her waist.

Connor: Did you know her well?

Izzy: Fairly well. We’ve been having dinner with her and her husband every tuesday for the past few months.

George: We’re not sure why they invited us in the beginning, it was a little out of the blue.

Izzy: You’re not sure dearest. I know why.

Connor: Is that information that you can share?

Izzy: I’d rather not. She asked me to keep it in the strictest confidence.

Connor: Ma’am, I could write you up for withholding information.

George: Sir, my wifes best friend died today. Please be a little more patient with her.

Connor: Fine. Ma’am, This is important because you were found at the scene of the crime. You and your husband are our most likely suspects. Where were you this morning from eight-thirty to ten?

Izzy: That’s about when we were having breakfast.

George: My lady love made pancakes.

-Izzy blushes and bumps him with her hip.

Connor: Is there anyone that can verify that?

George: Do our kids count?

Izzy: We always eat breakfast as a family.

Connor: That won’t be necessary. Is there a number I can get to call you if we have any more questions?

George: I happen to have a business card with me. *Hands him the card* That is just my work number. I would prefer it if you didn’t concern my wife with this case any more.

Connor: Thank you, Sir.

-Izzy and George turn and exit. Rachel enters brushing past them.

Rachel: Just took a call from that detective. She says she’ll take both cases.

Connor: *Staring after Izzy and George* I don’t trust him.

Rachel: Possible suspect?

Connor: Definitely. Find out more about both of them. *Hands Rachel the card*

Rachel: Yes, sir. Now, about that detective?

Connor: Right. When is she getting here?

Rachel: Don’t know. But she is in the city, so probably not long.

Connor: *looks down at Sara's body* She better hurry. I don’t need another body.
