ACT 1 SCENE 5
-Opens to a very dirty looking hotel room. Not one you would want to stay in for long periods of time. The door opens and Chelsie enters dragging a large suitcase. Kayla enters behind her carrying a much smaller suitcase
Kayla: You know we’re not staying very long, right?
Chelsie: This is just my hair and makeup case. The clothes one is still out in the car.
Kayla: *quietly, to herself* This is why i don’t bring you with me.
Chelsie: What was that?
Kayla: Nothing!
-Chelsie looks around the room for the first time.
Chelsey: This place is disgusting! I can’t sleep here! *Turns to Kayla* You told me you god a good hotel room!
Kayla: No, i said i got a hotel room at a good price.
Chelsie: I didn’t expect it to be like this.
Kayla: I could call and have someone come pick you up so you can go home.
Chelsey: No! I’ll stay. I’m fine. It’s not that bad and you hardly notice the smell...
Kayla: Thats the spirit! Besides, this isn’t the worst part of the case. Not even close.
Chelsie: I don’t know how it could get any worse than this.
Kayla: How many cases have i brought you with me for?
Chelsie: Six or seven
Kayla: I know for a fact that none of them were murders. *holds up case file* This one is. Do you think you can handle that?
Chelsie: Absolutly! Dead people are kinda cool.
Kayla: Freak. Okay, lets get down to business. I want you to read through the case file and tell me anything that stands out to you. I have to go make a call and then I’m going to take a nap.
Chelsie: *yawns and stretches* Can i read the file after I nap? I’m tired too.
Kayla: I’m the boss, I get to take naps. You’re my assistant. You get to read the case file so the boss doesn’t have to.
Chelsie: But I...
Kayla: It wouldn’t take very long for me to call someone and have you out of here.
-Chelsie Sits down and starts to read the file. Kayla watches for a second and then exits.
Chelsie: I need some coffee. Where’s Mary-Jane when you actually need her?
