They were partying. It was usual for them. Saturday night. Everyone is at La Bonne Nuit. They were dancing, drinking, having fun in general. Veronica and Sweetpea were dancing.
-Are you having fun Sweets?
-Yes babe. Always with you.
She giggles and kisses him on the lips.
-Ohh I love you Ronnie!
Sweetpea says with a big smile. She looks at him and then takes a step back, taking her hands off of his. He looks at her confused and claps as Josie stops singing. They both don't look at each other. She goes up the stage to sing a song. She ends up picking a song about love. She sings it and don't even look at him. She looks at her friends dancing and being proud of her, her ex Archie he was the first one to make her feel love. But not at him. He is proud of her and claps at the end of the song.
Soon, everyone left and they were left. He helped her cleaan everytime after parties. That's even how they started dating. So he helped her take out the trash and he waited for her upstairs.
-Ready to go?
He asked looking at the ground.
-Yeah.
She said getting out and locking Pop's. He got on his motorcycle and she hopped on too. She held him tightly so she wouldn't fall down. They soon were at the Pembrooke. She hopped off and kissed his cheek.
-Thank you for tonight!
She says smiling, trying to forget he even mentioned the word from L.
-Oh you said thank you. I thought you wouldn't. Like you didn't say the other three words.
-Look Sweetpea, I know you're probably mad at me.
-Hell yeah I am.
He says raising his voice a little.
-I just can't respond to that.
-So you don't feel the same way as me.
She doesn't answer but looks him in the eyes and leaves some tears fall.
-I can't let myself go there with you. I...I can't. Especially not right now.
She says running to her apartment. He stays there for a little till he starts crying. He goes back to his trailer.
He starts breaking things, throwing things, hitting them. He sits down desperate and drinks some whiskey.
The days pass and Sweetpea doesn't appear to come at school, at parties, at serpent meetings. And Veronica is really scared that something bad happened to him.
-Hey Jughead!
She says as she sits beside the raven haired boy in the student lounge.
-Veronica Lodge. How may I help you?
He asks as he eats a chip.
-Betty told me that you had a serpent meeting yesterday night.
-Yeah. He was not there if that's what you ask. He doesn't answer anyone's phone calls. Fangs gone by his house the other day and he was drunk. Again.
-Again? But Sweetpea doesn't drink.
-He does now. Whatever happened to him has ruined him.
-That's me.
Veronica whispers.
-What did you say?
-Thank you Jughead.
She got up and ran outside. She got to her car and went to his trailer. She gently knocked the door but didn't get an answer. She knocked again and again.
-Fangs dude stop!
He yelled as he opened the door till he saw her.
-What are you doing here?
He asked looking at the ground.
-You're talking to me or to the ground?
Veronica asks.
-What do you want?
He asks looking at her.
-I want to say that I'm sorry. I want you to know that I'm crazy for you but...
The door closes. She stays there for a little yelling his name. But he doesn't react.
Again a few days pass and Veronica goes to the Whyte Wyrm. Toni has already talked to her about her initation to join the serpents. So she gets on stage and starts singing and stripping as she pole dances. All eyes are on her now. Including his. He's getting mad at her but in the same time melancholic as he misses her. She soon is over and looks at him. Jughead comes and gives her, her serpent jacket and helps her get down. She goes back to the bar and orders a drink while she goes to the bathroom to change. The door is suddenly open.
-Sorry I'm getting changed.
She says before she realises that is him behind her.
-Why did you do that?
He asks and she turns around as she hears his voice.
-Because I always wanted to be a part of this world.
-No. You won't join.
-You won't decide whether I'm joining or not Sweetpea.
-I am Veronica. I won't let anything happen to you. You probably...you will get hurt.
-Again it's not your decision to make Sweetpea. I'm a big girl now. I can decide by my own. So please get out of my way. I have to meet Toni.
She says as she leaves.
She goes back to the bar and sits on one of the bar stools. She takes a sip of her drink as they talk with Toni.
-So who will give you your tattoo?
-I don't know. I want you or...No not him.
She says as she thinks of Sweetpea.
-You know he gave me mine. He gives very sick tats. I would trust him. Even if we were on a break.
-I just I love him. And i didn't say it back to him.
-Veronica tell him now that you can.
-You're right Toni. I'll be right back.
She says running to where the boys were.
-Hey boys. Sorry to interrupt can I talk to Sweetpea?
-No.
He says.
-It's kinda important.
-Are you here to break my heart again Veronica?
He asks and she grabs his hand pulling him out of the sofa. She puts his hands on her waist and hers aorund his neck.
-I love you Sweetpea.
She says as he kisses him.
-I love you too Veronica.
He says.
